This seems like a program that can assist with ongoing need, beyond pandemic-related impacts. Is there a plan to continue this program and institutionalize it for the long-term?

Sorry I have to hop on and off today, so will share in the chat. In terms of tutoring, Read Charlotte shared on their tutoring work with Learning Ovations’ A2i platform for a recent CGLR webinar. Tutoring work otherwise varies significantly across our NC CGLR communities. Other areas of focus in NC for equitable recovery include state and advocate-directed efforts to reform our child care system, centering family and provider voices. Also, DPI will continue to focus on summer bridge academies and changing our school readiness measure to one based on TS Gold. Lots of efforts here around Medicaid expansion and screening for social drivers of health. Sorry to miss your reports!

I apologize I have to jump off, nothing particularly new here in Iowa, our legislature is still arguing over vouchers for private education, local districts have been doing RFP’s for after school and summer programming and local partners have summer programming underway. There is some language in an old bill that has resurfaced for “family mentors” if funded so need learn more about that.

I also have a hard stop at 4 so I will also share in the chat. We are in the process of wrapping up our first year of Kinder Camps or K-Camps. We utilized funds from our local healthcare systems to have school districts participate with us to address learning loss and remediation services for rising Kindergarten students who had not had a Preschool/Pre-K experience or their experience was cut off or made virtual due to COVID. We saw significant increase for from the Pre/Post Assessments of growth for the students . We had additional funds left over so most of our districts implemented tutoring supports that focused on literacy remediation as it pertains the K

KPals Benchmark scores. From the Fall scores up until mid year and now Spring benchmark scores, students saw an increase in services through the use of a one on one tutoring, use of retired teachers, a learning system called Heggerty, and other remediation services.
