I'm also curious if everyone else will be following vegetable subgroups and providing 3/4 C of vegetable for curbside meals. We used the waiver to serve 0.5 Cup since so many items are IW.

39:31
Regarding CACFP, the American Rescue Plan Act will provide additional reimbursement for young adults up to age 25 residing in Emergency Shelters. USDA has not issued guidance to states yet.

@Kari, great question! Summer meals are already free for all through SFSP and SSO, but there have been some early discussions about bolstering this program. Curious what needs you’d like to see over the summer — feel free to shoot me an email at abby@ecoliteracy.org
Susan Dalandan
44:45
@Kari, our state agency in PA said that USDA has approved Summer EBT for summer 2021, but it is up to the states to decide if they will participate. In PA, they have not made a decision, but they are leaning towards participating.
Patricia Baugus
45:13
With the provision to employ SSO through June 2022 - any reason/benefit you see for districts to apply for CEP?

Can we go back to salad bars in cafeterias?

45:46
Will self serve salad bars be able to return next school year?
Lisa Buskirk
45:48
GREAT question Patricia, I would also like to know
Susan Dalandan
46:04
@Patricia, FRAC recommends applying for CEP because you will be locking in current conditions.
Stephanie Bruce
46:30
Hi Debbie...I am going back to salad bars as soon as my parents and teachers are comfortable with the idea. USDA and FDA have said that the virus is not spread through food
KRisten TEkell
46:37
Can we get the links to the CDC updates and guides?
Abby Halperin | Center for Ecoliteracy
46:40
@Patrica and @Lisa — one thing that I’ve heard is that community need (and therefore your ISPs) are quite high right now, so you can lock in a higher reimbursement rate for the next four years if you apply for CEP now
kari johnson
46:44
@Abby, thanks for the response. I will be in touch via email. :)
Jennifer Gonzales
47:13
Please clarify CACFP for 21-22 SY - snack and supper can be served free at any site regardless of free/reduce % Thank you!

Hallie Ingram
49:05
Can masked students come through the cafeteria briefly to get their lunch served on a tray or do we need to continue serving everything packaged to go outside?
Mickinzie Lopez | LunchAssist
49:46
Hallie - students should be able to come thru the cafeteria, as long as some safety guidelines can remain in place (i.e. masks, 3’ distancing, etc.)

We surveyed our parents so see what cooking utensils and equipment they had and they had everything they would need to cook with our boxes. I was totally shocked how equipped their kitchens were. I was afraid that would be a problem, but no one has complained. They have even come back and told me the new recipes they have made with the ingredients in the box. For example, one family made cream of broccoli soup with the milk, cheese, broccoli and mushrooms we had in the box.
