Feel free to share your thoughts, questions, or areas you'd like to see us take a deeper dive into via our Q+A feature, or you can pop it right here in the chatbox!

01:03:12
Do participants have any topic-specific questions about how to broach conversations with clinicians?

01:03:15
If so, let us know!

01:04:33
Thoughts about stigma:

01:04:44
Approach with an openness and curiosity to learn more about attitudes and beliefs.

01:05:01
"Tell me more about why you think this..." or "What experiences have you had that support this belief?"

01:05:16
Use person-first language.

01:13:10
Genevieve, we may not be able to get too deep into bupe treatment on this call, but we're happy to chat more via e-mail or a phone call! Send us e-mail to set something up! narcad@partners.org

01:14:36
Thank you, Shelly, Mark, and Genevieve!Vishal, can you tell us more about "provider interest"? Are you saying that some providers don't care about the topic you're coming to them with?

01:15:14
How to build a relationship as a non-clinician:

01:15:35
-Be transparent about your perspective/knowledge as a non-clinician

01:15:42
-Remember that you have something to offer!

01:16:09
-Detailers aren't there to know everything; they're there as a link, a resource, and a service. It's okay to not know all of the answers!

01:16:50
Thanks for the clarification, Vishal!

01:16:56
We'll tackle this next.

01:20:46
What do you do when clinicians may say, "This isn't my area/concern"?

01:21:04
-(E.g., HIV PrEP, Opioids, etc.)

01:21:40
-Primary Care Physicians often have a trusted relationship with their patients, and see them the most often, and are often well-poised to convey a message

01:22:00
-Patient education coming from PCP's is often better absorbed by the patient

01:22:23
-Our goal as detailers is to make things "one step better" vs. "perfect"

01:22:59
-Ask the clinician, "Can you tell me more about where you feel the line is between this topic being pertinent to your patients but doesn't fall within your treatment area?"

01:23:23
-"Was there a time that you tried to address this issue and found that it was better to outsource it to a specialist? Can you tell me about that?"
