What does green infrastructure mean? Examples please.

52:27
Thank you Ruth Ann, I have added your question

Green infrastructure, depending on who you define it, could include rain gardens, bioswales, rooftop gardens, reforested areas. Etc.

I was really happy to hear that goats can be trained to eat poison ivy and they actually enjoyi it. Poison ivy is a big problem because if loves to grow on the edges of small patches of forest. Goats are now available for rent in Houston.

01:02:29
The Houston Natural Science Museum has a sample garden of natives.

01:02:48
For those presenters not from Houston, what was something positive or a strength in regards to planning that surprised you when you got to Houston?

01:03:01
Yes, Nancy! They are awesome! We utilized them in McGovern Centennial Gardens September 2019

01:03:10
Thank you Josh, I have added your question

01:15:03
Marissa, we see reduced setbacks being encouraged for new development. While the City did put some additional protections for the trees in the Walkable Places/TOD ordinance it is still unclear to me how well this will protect the trees. Are you involved at all with reviewing new ordinances to encourage keeping the mature shade trees we have?

01:15:08
Great resources Kyle!

01:19:59
All great answers!! Thank you

01:23:42
Who is going to educate the homeowners as to how they can use rain gardens and cisterns to detain water?

01:25:20
Thank you Nancy, I have added your question

01:26:16
We are seeing developers cut all the trees on an entire block. David, it is not about the value of selling the home. This is about high density development where it is all about building out the entire land parcel, as much as allowed by the City.

01:30:23
Marissa, your department just completed heat mapping surveys in Houston. How will you utilize this data?

01:36:53
How do we get access to the heat data?
