Jon-Luc is correct. I had to reregister to get in

26:20
My internet connection is unstable so I am turning off my camera for a while

27:21
The original link didn't work, but I just got an email with the new link and got in.

30:11
Tried several times; always timed out. Received Monica's note to re-register, which I clicked on and got screen with my info and at bottom said, "Join Here" Internet probably hung up today with world situation.

31:23
There was a problem with the link received earlier with registration. SLA responded with a fresh link which worked after registering again

I am Indo-Caribbean, I was born in Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean which was the home of the indigenous First Peoples.According to our National Library and Informaiton Service of Trinidad and the Arawakan Tribe dominated the Caribbean Islands. They were settled communities with agricultural based economies, and having well developed cultures. The Cariban societies never achieved the state of civilization displayed by the Arawakan tribes; they were more nomadic than the Arawaks. There is still a small indigenous community in Trinidad and Tobago and we celebrate First Peoples Day.Over the last 500 years Trinidad has seem home to European colonisers with other settlers (be it through slavery or indentureship) to Africans, Asian and Indians migrants.I am married to an Italian.I now live in London in Great Britain.

37:05
It is with gratitude and humility that I acknowledge that I am learning, speaking and gathering on the ancestral homelands of the Mochican people who are the indigenous peoples of this land. Despite tremendous hardship in being forced from here, today their community resides in Wisconsin and is known as the Stockbridge-Munsee Community. I pay honor and respect to their ancestors past and present as I commit to building a more inclusive and equitable space for all.

Drink

42:46
Finally got in. PathLMS.com was down for everyone and then Zoom wouldn't connect on the first three tries.

44:14
Thanks for continuing to try, Stephen! We waited until almost 15 after to allow people to join. The session is also being recorded.

53:58
Where can I find the call for volunteers?

55:41
James, I just forwarded you the email announcement

56:42
Tom, would you mind forwarding it to me as well? rays@metro.net

56:55
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SLA22Volunteers

56:58
Shelley, sure.

57:14
Thanks, Tom! Apparently the announcement went out today.

58:53
It did, I received the email at 11am est

01:04:52
I thought it was odd to go this long in the year without a set budget.

01:05:36
You don't already get that, Anne???

01:06:21
Good idea, Anne!!!

01:07:23
Interesting that there were more executive sessions between 2016-2020.

01:08:41
Shouldn't the whole board have the complete financial picture of the association? We elected them all, right?

01:11:41
Anne and Heather's motion s great. The Board is in a precarious position around their fiduciary duties.

01:12:16
Excellent!!!!

01:12:28
Excellent!

01:15:42
Great call-outs, Anne!

01:20:34
Credibility, JonLuc?

01:20:41
Is that the right word?

01:20:51
Yes. correct word.

01:20:59
MLA Certificaations

01:21:01
Good word.

01:21:54
Be careful to not confuse cautions and questions with objections.

01:22:16
Stephen would you expand on that, please?

01:22:23
Also, the feedback needs to be couched in the age/stage needs of members.

01:22:28
I feel that there was also a sense of “we should partner with those who already offer, rather than create our own products.”

01:23:05
I agree with JonLuc about partnering.

01:23:32
Credentials can get respect through Credly or IASET as well as through consortial offerings like The Partnership of most library associations in Canada.

01:23:41
Agreed Anne - I don’t know how we compete with someone like Learn Six Sigma, but we could specialize in partnership

01:23:49
+1 to info pro project management!

01:23:51
Some Library Schools have a Project Mgt Course.

01:24:36
To Anne's point, PMI is still considered the gold standard for project and program management.

01:24:44
I'd suggest we lean into our current strengths as well. The CI series is really great for example.

01:25:14
I saw the critical thinking nature of our field be interpreted as criticism or lack of need when it was really about cautions to be addressed with a solid business plan for education as a member benefit and revenue source.

01:25:48
Thanks Stephen

01:26:42
Our need for Lean Six Sigma is how to address a process that is focused on mistakes and costs instead of positive outcomes and value.

01:28:53
AIIM actually has their own certification programs like https://www.aiim.org/education-section/cip

01:29:29
AIIM initial focus many many years ago was records management; so a lot of their members are record managers

01:30:04
Seems content and info management too now.

01:30:28
There are many consulting processes that address the frameworks for making these kinds of decisions. I've worked at several companies and academic settings where we needed to prioritize with a vision. We can't pick one topic to start and grow organically with knowing where we want to be in the end.

01:31:40
I think we need to see a plan/business plan before we discuss this further

01:32:07
Great idea, Stephen!

01:33:25
This is far too complex and vital a decision to discuss the solution first. Discuss the process to achieve a decision and what success looks like.

01:33:48
+1 Stephen

01:34:58
Absolutely Stephen!

01:42:07
Brandy is planning a DICE-sponsored social justice session . Thanks Brandy!

01:48:40
I have to run, but want to thank you for holding these open board meetings.

01:49:03
Also, nominate yourself or colleagues for the board, please and thank you all

01:55:44
Was the vote for the addendum confirmed by the entire board?

01:55:57
There were 3 last minute questions asked, could we be sure those are responded to - even if it is in writing after the meeting?
