What is the difference between dedicated lands and municipal reserve? Could you provide some general examples?

01:12:16
Perfect Thank you!

01:12:20
Is there an environmental reserve designation and can you give some examples of where it has been used?

01:31:46
Will the presentation slides be made available after this?

01:32:43
Yes, we will be asking Jenna for a copy of the presentation to be posted on our SPPI website along with the audio recording of this presentation.

01:33:03
What kind of intermunicipal referee role does the CPB take in reviewing OCPs and ZBs? If it is of the opinion of the CPB, or an adjacent municipality, that one municipality is proposing something in its OCP or ZB that would be detrimental to the adjacent municipality, does the CPB work with the OCP applicant municipality to resolve it?

01:34:21
Great question. I will pose this to our presenter in the next break. Thank you.

01:48:23
The pandemic has made open spaces even more important. Considering that good planning practices promote intensification, achieving higher densities in existing neighbourhoods can exert more pressure on existing open spaces. Should the MR requirements be revised to percentage of density as oppose to percentage of subdivision area?

01:50:17
Thank you for the question. I will ask this of the presenter at the upcoming section break.

01:52:38
How do areas like boulevards, sidewalks, multi-use pathways, and urban plazas fall in the dedicated land categories/regulations?

01:56:55
I agree with the question about the need of open spaces, in particular now that the pandemic has shown the importance of them plus the problems of high density. Dedicated land should not be taken in cash, moreover, more open spaces should be added. We should not follow the high density practices of other cities, could Saskatchewan be an example of nature and cities in a good relationship? And so health and climate adaptation?

02:01:48
If a resident was to approach Council regarding a distillery for example and this is not currently in a zoning bylaw--could council approve this in a certain area as a discretionary use (by resolution) or would you have to modify your zoning bylaw first?

02:03:21
I am a new administrator in a community and they currently have a zoning bylaw....how would one go about to update the setbacks, etc....would you have to look at the national building code to see if these regulations updated or is there somewhere else to look?

02:05:04
for the dedicated lands---10% is residential---you stated "taken as needed", but also not required... is this a choice for municipalities to designate land for municipal reserve when subdivisions are applied for...I heard this is a requirement....

02:05:33
How prescriptive can a zoning bylaw be for areas prone to flooding? does the ZB prescribe the "fix" to mitigate potential damages due to flooding or do the builders/residents simply need to meet a certain standard?

02:36:36
Are servicing agreements/fees intended to be applied to the source parcel and all proposed parcels, or just the new parcel being created? For example, a new residential yard site being subdivided out of a cultivated quarter section. Does the servicing agreement apply to just the new residential parcel or both the new residential parcel and the agricultural source parcel?

02:38:21
Thank you Scott. I will ask this question of our presenter soon.

02:45:46
Thanks for your response, much appreciated.

02:58:33
Are development levies triggered at the development permit stage?

02:59:20
Thanks!

02:59:32
Suggestion on how often a municipality should review the offsites? Undertake a new study?

03:16:13
Building off my last question (and thanks for your response by the way), what recourse is there for an adjacent municipality to object to/appeal a proposed OCP or ZB that they deem detrimental due to incompatible uses, blocking of logical growth directions, etc. if the two municipalities cannot reach common ground, despite their best efforts, and the CPB approves the OCP or ZB on the grounds that it meets legislation?

03:16:25
Is the CPB also responsible for coordinating regional transportation planning?

03:19:32
Also, curious to know if the province has investigated legislating mandatory regional and/or intermunicipal planning upon municipalities in across the province or within high growth areas such as metropolitan areas.

03:23:42
Great questions and comments gang. We will get to these shortly.

03:41:11
Thank you, Jenna and Eric! Well done today!

03:43:44
Great presentation! Thank you!

03:45:56
Thank you Jenna and SPPI! This was excellent!
