COA Merritt Nolte-Roth, PARD
01:17:55
Hi George! We are still working on getting the slides uploaded, but we will have the slides available after the meeting on the project webpage. http://www.austintexas.gov/sheffieldNWpark
COA Justin Schneider, PARD
01:37:17
https://PollEv.com/austinparks512; showing Vision words and will transition on the next slide.
Cullen McMorrow
01:37:38
The poll is still asking about "one word that summarizes what is important"
Tara Lane Bowman
01:37:40
Hey you guys, I don’t see how to see Vision words
Denis
01:38:06
Can we get the poll update email?
Denis
01:39:29
can you put the poll update email back on the screen?
Tara Lane Bowman
01:39:29
Is it supposed to say “clear last response” after I put my pin on the line?
COA Justin Schneider, PARD
01:39:49
Tara, if you want to reset it, you can clear it and put a new response.
Denis
01:39:50
thank you
Tara Lane Bowman
01:40:27
I don’t need to, but I can if it’ll help me progress :)
Tara Lane Bowman
01:40:42
Aha! Nevermind, it moved me on
Denis
01:41:02
not understanding how you enter your poll responce?
Katharine Beisner
01:42:38
yes, less parking. Good one
COA Merritt Nolte-Roth, PARD
01:42:59
Hi Denis, if you can’t access the poll, feel free to enter your response into the chat!
Tara Lane Bowman
01:44:01
This is adorable.
Martha Stockton
01:44:12
Hire her!
Natalie Sanchez
01:44:30
i had to step away and i missed my chance to submit a response, but for what it’s worth, i’d love to ask for inclusive entry into the swimming pool
George Thompson
01:44:58
Where can we get an update on the Dam project? there is concern it may be very large cement area like Dog Park
COA Justin Schneider, PARD
01:45:01
Thanks, Natalie. Patrick is sharing about the engagement for the pool area.
Kata Carbone
01:46:08
Thank you. It’s evident that you are really listening. The top goals echo what we’ve been hearing from park users for many years, especially: Pond. Pool. Playground. Connectivity.
Elle, Alice & Jack Smith
01:46:36
an any chance we can have a playscape like Ramsey Park? Would love more info on where the playground planning is happening.
George Thompson
01:46:41
We need to get the wood planks for the shoal creek bridge walkway ? They forgot them in 1986
COA Annabell Ulary - Watershed
01:46:45
annabell.ulary@austintexas.gov
Paulette Kern
01:47:34
I think we need to remember the numbers of people using this park which will be added to the neighborhood with all the construction and new apts. being built.
Carter Watkins
01:47:44
How does the physical playscape and playscape design process get funded? Who designs the playscape?
Martha Stockton
01:48:50
I work for Kompan, which provided the Ramsey Park equipment: kompan.us. they also sell outdoor fitness equipment and sport court enclosures. So happy to hear that Alice and Ellie enjoy it! It is pretty cool!
Natalie Sanchez
01:49:08
was there a timeline shared on fulfilling this vision plan?
Jack Kern
01:49:36
Is the expectation of significantly increased population density in the surrounding area being considered?
RANLEIGH HIRSH
01:49:59
The bridge over shoal creek has a metal walking surface which is difficult for children and dogs to use
George Thompson
01:50:23
Can we add more trees to the park? To Slopes, any constraints ?
Tara Lane Bowman
01:50:47
Ranleigh, we always end up carrying our terrier, ha ha
Carter Watkins
01:51:23
Thanks!
RANLEIGH HIRSH
01:51:47
here here to exercise equipment like at highland park elementary school and Ramsey park
Michael Dziak
01:51:56
There seems to be strong interest in a BMX track. Is it under consideration? Is there enough space for that?
Martha Stockton
01:52:33
Right now there's an impromptu BMX track by the baseball parking lot.
COA Patrick Beyer - PARD
01:52:46
This is an example of recent playground replacement project at circle c Park: http://www.austintexas.gov/department/circle-c-metro-park-playground-replacement
Tara Lane Bowman
01:53:01
Martha, that’s part of the reason I want to bump the skatepark/bike park idea. But I can tell we’re limited by the impervious cover stuff
Kata Carbone
01:53:02
In the mid-1980s, the city provided a small fraction of the funds initially allocated for the playscape; the neighborhood helped a bit with fundraising. I think the city should pony up extra funds to make up for that!
Natalie Sanchez
01:53:07
one more clarifying question around the timeline, is the proposed timeline that the pool will be open starting 2024?
Cullen McMorrow
01:53:23
I agree with Martha and MIcahel about BMX and mountain biking. https://www.twowheelingtots.com/biking-with-kids-in-bentonville/ should be an inspiration. I represent Austin Ridge Riders Mountain Bike Club
Tara Lane Bowman
01:54:09
It’s ramps and a small space
Tara Lane Bowman
01:54:18
It’s not a path
Devon Bijansky
01:54:23
Come on, let's not generalize about what a single cyclist did once or twice.
Martha Stockton
01:54:25
I'm not necessarily for it,(BMX) though it seems like there's enthusiasm from younger folks in the neighborhood.
Martha Stockton
01:54:37
And I support enthusiasm :)
COA Patrick Beyer - PARD

Kata Carbone
01:54:50
Certainly separating pedestrians and cycling is a top priority.
George Thompson
01:54:56
Put BMX over in Dog Park,
Barbara Hanlon
01:55:01
Yes, let's remember the elders so they can enjoy being at the park, too!
RANLEIGH HIRSH
01:55:20
yes, the baseball parking lot is a great location for a pump track
Tara Lane Bowman
01:55:33
I think there is a way to do it that considers both our young bike/skateboard enthusiasts and also our elders
Michael Dziak
01:56:25
To see an example of a BMX track, search Peachtree City, GA BMX Track. It has been very successful under similar park/community circumstances.
Martha Stockton
01:56:47
Yes, better connectivity into the neighborhood for pedestrians. Its kind of hard to get into right now from various points.
Denis
01:56:48
That is where I walk.
RANLEIGH HIRSH
01:56:56
we need more ways to come down from the top of the dam/levee
Tara Lane Bowman
01:57:00
Bikers who prefer longer spaces will not be attracted to a smaller space with hills, etc
COA Patrick Beyer - PARD
01:57:10
Natalie, regarding your question on the pool opening, the current schedule has the new pool opening in 2025.
Natalie Sanchez
01:57:16
thank you!
RANLEIGH HIRSH
01:57:28
what about the small bowl area on the southwest side of the pond? not very used right now
COA Darcy Nuffer - PARD
01:58:07
Darcy.Nuffer@austintexas.gov
Elle, Alice & Jack Smith
01:58:27
we're not crazy about a pump track. But if one is going in, we'd prefer that is goes where the parking for baseball currently is
Barbara Hanlon
01:58:40
Would love to have an area that is like a village square.
George Thompson
01:58:50
BMX will be too noisy for neighbors
COA Merritt Nolte-Roth, PARD
01:59:05
http://www.austintexas.gov/sheffieldNWpark Project webpage to access recordings and slides after the meeting
Tara Lane Bowman
01:59:05
Elle, Alice and Jack, I agree
Barbara Hanlon
02:00:12
Use the "bowl" area south of pond for performances.
Tara Lane Bowman
02:00:40
Thank you guys!
RANLEIGH HIRSH
02:00:43
true the bowl would be perfect for performance space
George Thompson
02:00:49
Thanks!
Cullen McMorrow
02:00:54
Much appreciated!
Devon Bijansky
02:00:59
Thank you!
Barbara Hanlon
02:01:04
So excited to see our park develop - thank you!
Deborah Femat
02:01:11
thank you.
Martha Stockton
02:01:20
Thanks!
Kata Carbone
02:01:21
Wondering how many participants there were
RANLEIGH HIRSH
02:01:47
there were 33 at top of the meeting
COA Justin Schneider, PARD
02:01:55
Kata, I believe we were up to about 45, 14 from design team (COA or project consultant)
COA Justin Schneider, PARD
02:02:08
And 9 on Facebook Live.
Kata Carbone
02:02:16
thanks
