Will a copy of this PPT be shared out?
Tracey Warner
25:09
What if they failed the course during the year but completed credit recovery during summer school?
Joan Groves
26:37
What if transfer student passed the related course in 2019-2020 and no exam was offered in other states?
Amy Munro - PDE
27:30
We'll make sure that any information that isn't already on SAS gets posted - either as a slide deck or as new FAQs under New & Noteworthy
Amy Munro - PDE
28:03
Joan - great question. see last bullet ;)
Amy Munro - PDE
28:15
you anticipated this slide!
SHAI MCGOWAN
30:03
What do we do with a transfer student that transcript shows successful completion of a trigger course but NEVER took a standardized assessment in the prior educational setting?
Amy Munro - PDE
31:46
Shai - they may be considered as having met locally established grade-based requirements for the Keystone content but they would not be awarded an NNP.
Stephanie
32:51
can you address why PDE did not consider in Composite #2 two high basic scores that are greater than 2939 with one test as a non-numeric proficient as eligible to meet the criteria?
nmetzger
33:05
What do you do if you have a student, and the parents opted the student out of all testing?
Amy Munro - PDE
33:39
Shai - unless, of course, it was in 19/20. in which case, they may be awarded that NNP!
SHAI MCGOWAN
33:59
Thanks, Amy. Would that mean I will need to have these students sit to take the Keystone Exams. I have transfer students that are seniors that haven’t taken any exams. They need to take all 3 exams.
Shana Kulp - North Penn School District
34:21
If they were enrolled in an aligned course in 19-20 they wouldn't have to?
Shana Kulp - North Penn School District
34:30
@shai and @amy
Amy Munro - PDE
34:49
students who are missing all three keystone scores may still meet the requirements of the CTE Concentrator, Alternative Assessment, or Evidence-Based Pathway
SHAI MCGOWAN
35:00
These students did not take the trigger courses in 19/20.
Amy Munro - PDE
36:31
Correct, Shana - if that transcript credit was from the 19/20 SY, you can award them an NNP under Act 136
Kate Evans-Haines, JASD
36:36
For clarification, if student successful completes a non-trigger course, does that non-trigger course need to be coded in PIMS as a trigger course? In addition, can we add it retroactively into PIMS?
Courtney McClelland
36:42
Is the 19/20 school year the ONLY year we will accept "waived" exam scores from transfer students? For example, I believe NY may have waived the regents the following year
beverlea.hamilton
36:46
What if a student passed the course in 19/20 and then took the Keystone in the fall (winter) wave of 2020 and did not pass but would have qualified for the ACT 136 non-numeric? Does this student still get to use the non-numeric instead or does taking the exam the next fall eliminate them from this?
Amy Munro - PDE
37:42
students are required to participate in the keystone exams for federal accountability - but not required for graduation.
Amy Munro - PDE
38:47
kate - it does not need to be coded in pims as a trigger course. it does need to be in your local grad policy as a locally established grade-based requirement for the keystone content, though.
Amy Munro - PDE
39:42
Courtney - the legislation says in any year the feds waived accountability. to date, they have only waived accountability in 19/20.
Kate Evans-Haines, JASD
40:07
Thank you, Amy.
Amy Munro - PDE
41:05
students may use either the NNP or the keystone exam score earned in a keystone area - whichever is most advantageous to the student
Bert Gentilezza
42:27
Also retake the biology class as credit recovery
Stephanie
43:12
so a non-numeric proficient can count as 1 of the 3 pieces of evidence
Courtney McClelland
43:28
To clarify Amy, I'm looking at a NY transcript right now with a "WA" (waived) algebra regents in 2021. Are you saying that will not count as NNP?
Amy Munro - PDE
43:37
Stephanie - yes!
Dana Douglas Oxford Area HS
44:02
If students took Alg I in 19-20 in middle school or in a private school, is there a time constraint limiting when we can give those students a NNP? And we can do that instead of their former school, correct?
Amy Munro - PDE
45:08
Courtney - correct. Per legislation, we may only recognize any year in which accountability was waived by the feds (to whom we're accountable), not other states' cancellations of exams
Sarah Babins
45:26
Is there a way to put these Q and A into one document and send it out so that we can process with our school teams?
Caitlyn Belhumeur
45:33
Can you explain the evidence based pathway and why only one criteria from section one?
Courtney Stein
45:34
For Scenario 1, if the student were to take the Algebra test, wouldn't they need at least a Proficient for the composite pathway? Because they only got basic on the other two. Sorry if I missed if this was explained.
Amy Munro - PDE
45:51
Dana - no time frame for graduation purposes
Greg Freeman
46:30
What is an NNP coded in the E metric report?
Amy Munro - PDE
46:59
Caitlyn - at least one piece of evidence must come from section 1 of the EB pathway. you may collect all three pieces from section 1 - you just can't collect all three from section two
Sarah Babins
47:03
If a student qualifies u nder "Act 1" is this null and void?
Amy Munro - PDE
47:24
sara - no. join us next week. we'll be diving into Act 1
Caitlyn Belhumeur
47:39
Is it three pieces of evidence for each Keystone exam with a non-proficient score
Amy Munro - PDE
48:15
Caitlyn - if a student has three NNPs, they meet the Keystone Proficiency Pathway
Vaneeda Days
48:53
If a school has a service learning project as part of existing graduation requirements, will that also satisfy the evidenced based pathway service learning component?
Amy Munro - PDE
49:08
plus. you may only satisfy up to two pieces of evidence from the section two list. but, moot - that kiddo graduates under the KP Pathway!
Caitlyn Belhumeur
49:11
Thanks Amy. If they have three basic scores, are we collecting 3 pieces of evidence total of three for each exam?
Bert Gentilezza
49:31
What SY does ACT 158 go until?
Amy Munro - PDE
50:25
No - the EB pathway-specific criteria are not related to the keystone content. however, the LEGBR will need to be met for each keystone area (pass course, pba)
Jean Dyszel - PDE
50:40
Don't neglect the graphic that provides a snapshot of the pathways: https://files5.pdesas.org/103035253105184109180132213233158013113195110188/Download.ashx?hash=2.2
