What do we do with a transfer student that transcript shows successful completion of a trigger course but NEVER took a standardized assessment in the prior educational setting?

Shai - they may be considered as having met locally established grade-based requirements for the Keystone content but they would not be awarded an NNP.

can you address why PDE did not consider in Composite #2 two high basic scores that are greater than 2939 with one test as a non-numeric proficient as eligible to meet the criteria?

What do you do if you have a student, and the parents opted the student out of all testing?

Shai - unless, of course, it was in 19/20. in which case, they may be awarded that NNP!

Thanks, Amy. Would that mean I will need to have these students sit to take the Keystone Exams. I have transfer students that are seniors that haven’t taken any exams. They need to take all 3 exams.

If they were enrolled in an aligned course in 19-20 they wouldn't have to?

Correct, Shana - if that transcript credit was from the 19/20 SY, you can award them an NNP under Act 136

For clarification, if student successful completes a non-trigger course, does that non-trigger course need to be coded in PIMS as a trigger course? In addition, can we add it retroactively into PIMS?

Is the 19/20 school year the ONLY year we will accept "waived" exam scores from transfer students? For example, I believe NY may have waived the regents the following year

What if a student passed the course in 19/20 and then took the Keystone in the fall (winter) wave of 2020 and did not pass but would have qualified for the ACT 136 non-numeric? Does this student still get to use the non-numeric instead or does taking the exam the next fall eliminate them from this?

students are required to participate in the keystone exams for federal accountability - but not required for graduation.

kate - it does not need to be coded in pims as a trigger course. it does need to be in your local grad policy as a locally established grade-based requirement for the keystone content, though.

Courtney - the legislation says in any year the feds waived accountability. to date, they have only waived accountability in 19/20.

To clarify Amy, I'm looking at a NY transcript right now with a "WA" (waived) algebra regents in 2021. Are you saying that will not count as NNP?

Stephanie - yes!

If students took Alg I in 19-20 in middle school or in a private school, is there a time constraint limiting when we can give those students a NNP? And we can do that instead of their former school, correct?

Courtney - correct. Per legislation, we may only recognize any year in which accountability was waived by the feds (to whom we're accountable), not other states' cancellations of exams

For Scenario 1, if the student were to take the Algebra test, wouldn't they need at least a Proficient for the composite pathway? Because they only got basic on the other two. Sorry if I missed if this was explained.

Caitlyn - at least one piece of evidence must come from section 1 of the EB pathway. you may collect all three pieces from section 1 - you just can't collect all three from section two

If a school has a service learning project as part of existing graduation requirements, will that also satisfy the evidenced based pathway service learning component?

plus. you may only satisfy up to two pieces of evidence from the section two list. but, moot - that kiddo graduates under the KP Pathway!

What SY does ACT 158 go until?

No - the EB pathway-specific criteria are not related to the keystone content. however, the LEGBR will need to be met for each keystone area (pass course, pba)
