Is there a metric that links the opioid prescriptions to rates of cesarean delivery? As post-op pain from a cesarean would be the most common indication for an opioid prescription from an Ob/Gyn?

Thanks you so much for helping folks get back to basics in care for this vulnerable babies and their families!!
Gina Wiser
02:58:05
I love that you are pushing for visits even if it mom cant make it, finding someone else. As a foster parent, the horror stories of babies just laying in the hospital until they are ready for pick up all alone is heart breaking and tragic. I hope more places implement this!
Debi Ferrarello
03:01:28
Any suggestions for hospitals that do not have pediatric units and the busy NICU has an open floor plan?
Elissa Concini RN- Geisinger
03:01:53
Great question, Debi!
James Cook MD
03:02:52
Do you complete Plans for Safe/Supportive Care for NAS infants prior to discharge? IF so, how successful has this been?
elliottmacbookpro
03:04:43
In California, we stress the importance of complete Plans for safe/supportive care for BOTH mothers and babies. It is key forth either to be in long term care for the baby outcome.
Elissa Concini RN- Geisinger
03:06:38
In PA, we were told we cannot transfer to the same level of care (newborn nursery to newborn nursery) to facilitate mother and baby staying together. Has anyone encounter this and overcome this?
iphone
03:08:10
managing the opioid exposed infant presents a unique challenge because it is a baby-mother diyad. How do you support mothers and ensure their needs are met...medication, group therapy, counseling services? Maternal gilt is high as they have experienced opioid withdrawal and could not be comforted this way. Agree Moms should be with their babies if hospital configuration allows but needs of both should be met.
Gary Stoner
03:09:36
Your work reminds me of a mantra from med school; Treat the patient not a lab value. Excellent Presentation.
Julia Och (she/her)
03:10:01
That is quite a challenge!\
Williette Walker, RN HUP
03:11:49
The interdisciplinary approach is so important.Mom's need to know they are the best medicine .Following the baby's cues makes all the difference in successful treatment. Feeding seems to be our biggest challenge and increases LOS.

03:16:12
I understand that these changes likely started small in a way to improve care. And you have a great run chart. But at any time did you have IRB involvement for these changes?
Debi Ferrarello
03:16:23
Inspiring presentation. Thank you!
Susan Adeniyi-Jones
03:20:22
What about the rest of the family? needs of other children? Impact of Mom away from home then returning with a still somewhat irritable baby?

Do you use the same protocol for early gestation pregnant patients with history of chronic hypertension?
Adriane Burgess
04:11:24
We have implemented a screening in Epic for need for low dose aspirin -it is done around 12 weeks. it has really improved the standard provision of low dose aspirin among patients at high risk- we also got samples of aspirin in the OB office so providers can give a free sample and have a discussion about why aspirin is important. in the pregnancy
