Hi Jim, how should companies approach IP realms with heavy saturation? For example, genetic transformation of plants. Any recommendations how to navigate these markets to avoid any legal hurdles/issues with infringement?

Omar ' Who can apply for registration?In order to be entitled to registration of a trademark, an applicant must be a "person". A "person" may be an individual, partnership, trade union, association, joint venture, or corporation. An applicant can include two or more persons, for example “John Doe, Jane Smith”.' Source: CIPO's Trademarks Guide

Can you comment further on cross-licensing?

For instance I am interested in using some IP generated by my group that has already been exclusively licensed to another company. That company is much larger now and I don't know what their motivation would be to sub- or cross-license to us

Website called Patsnap will give you free valuation of issued patent. no idea how they really come up with the $ value though
