Good morning, yes that’s the names I have listed to make co-hosts
Leite Maria

great

thanks

If you have questions for the speaker, please write it here
Naïma El Farouq

Sorry, I came late, could you please explain the role of the impulses, are they control variables, how are they choosen ? Thanks.
Naïma El Farouq

I cannot raise hand ...
Naïma El Farouq
01:01:24
No sound...
Naïma El Farouq
01:04:01
I ask about when the times of impulses are chosenn and how ?
Naïma El Farouq
01:04:30
Ok thank you
juancarloscortes
01:05:51
It depends on the phenomenon we are dealing with. For example, for antibiotics is about 8 hours
Naïma El Farouq
01:07:47
it means it is a control variable
juancarloscortes
01:10:31
Yes, in the sense the periods T_i where Dirac delta control is applied are different
Naïma El Farouq
01:27:47
Thank you Carlos for your talk !
Leite Maria
01:33:31
Carlos, nice talk. If I am not mistaken you used a quadratic cost function. Any reason to do this other than the mathematical tractability?
Carlos Braumann
01:35:32
Thanks Maria. yes, the quadratic cost function is for mathematical tractabililty for the stochastic optimal control theory, but is not required for the constant effort case.
Naïma El Farouq
01:52:00
I think that the cost function depends on the problem we are solving, on the reality of what is happening
Naïma El Farouq
01:52:37
The quadratic function is may ba easier to solve

Carla Pinto, ISEP, Portugal
01:53:48
Have you tried other to fit to data from countries, e.g. Portugak?
Carla Pinto, ISEP, Portugal
01:53:54
"Portugal"
Carla Pinto, ISEP, Portugal
01:54:36
Sardines are extremely important in Portugal, as we all know :)
Carla Pinto, ISEP, Portugal
01:54:59
Maybe you can get from the Portuguese government.
Naïma El Farouq
01:55:05
I heard about halibut...
Carla Pinto, ISEP, Portugal
01:55:10
Yes, I know it's hard to find data.
Naïma El Farouq
01:58:47
the fish halibut in Carlos' conference
Carlos Braumann
02:01:50
It is the Pacific halibut (Hippoglossus hippoglossus); data from Hanson, F. B. and Ryan, D. (1998).Optimal harvesting with both population and price dynamics.Mathematical Biosciences, 148(2):129-146.
