Secure data (IoT) can provide transparency for financing and monitor service deliveries in countries with low access to reasonable priced funds (high interest rates). Unfortunately most projects are not followed properly and in real-time. Most focus is put on reports and consultants. Unfortunately that's proved to be a dead end.

@Fredrik Do you have any suggestions re last three sentences: what kinds of mechanisms/ metrics/third party monitoring might incentivise a shift to sustainable economy business model to replace the "utilitarian" old economy/aid agendas determined by existing funders/financiers public and private?

@Beris We are monitoring electricity deliveries (solar) from both small and larger installations - that data is accessible for the financier in real time. Same with buildings where we are creating transparency/verification of investments into "green" technologies for energy efficiency. Thereby verification for the green financing from example a green bond. All in real-time. And of course the asset manager of solar system or building gets much more data for operation and health of system.

@Beris We need to open up for solutions that work for the consumer/financier - focus on price/performance. Monitoring and transparency creates trust from people. Even informal societies are willing to pay as long as they get services. We tend to underestimate the willingness and ability to pay in informal societies. But of course nobody wants to pay for non-service

According to the latest report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), if it makes happen limiting range of average global warming to 1.5℃ compared with temperature before industrialization and reducing the possibility of predictable catastrophe due to climate change, we should take action on halving volume of CO2 emission by around 2030 and the percentage of renewable energy should be within 70%～85% by around mid-century.With promises reaching Net Zero from different countries with different time point before 2060, we should develop a Methodology to assess how much GHG emissions are emitted from Smart Cities. After that, it would be beneficial making a comparison between different Smart Cities in different regions and measuring effect of energy-saving and GHG-emission-reduction technologies.In this regard, this contribution proposed a new work item proposal on “Methodology for Measurement of GHG Emissions in Smart Cities”.
