Is it possible to add our names to the pad document? I'm not able to edit at the moment. Thanks

03:04:33
Elsbeth, click on the pencilicon in order to switch to editing mode

03:05:48
Thanks @Peter. It's command line - fun :)

03:06:41
Well, not really command line but feels a bit like it :) Before people point out my mistake.

03:08:11
Its pure ASCII happiness :-))

03:08:24

03:44:16
Thank you, Johan. Nice presentation. When you mentioned about ‘long time/term preservation’ what is the time frame we need to think about, is it decades, centuries?

03:45:13
Sorry I have problems with the audio

03:47:11
Thank you

03:55:01
is it possible to get links to the presentations?

03:55:25
The presentations will be upload and the links shared afterwards

03:56:05
all presentations will be available after the Meeting and linked in the Wiki

04:07:42
In that case should it refer to data and data products?

04:08:40
We use the therm Dataset

04:10:13
May need first we to give definitions of terminology used.

04:16:33
is there a link to the agenda google doc?

Couple of years ago a direct lightning fried dozens of our stations and servers. Last week another one fried an expensive atmospheric analyzer I have on a roof. We still create hard (i.e., removable disks) copies that are send out of the CITY for storage.

Yes. I tag them as Riot Insurance.

05:02:11
Decision about whose role it is for each of these actions. Not always clearly defined and assigned within institutes

05:02:46
Should there be any mention of funding long-term storage? multiple back-ups and other redundancies are expensive and cost users money for as long as you need the data stored on them. Funding agencies often only pay for the storage during the duration of the grant.

05:03:02
Whose job is it? Where does this expertise come from? Do these people have the resources and support needed for the work?

05:03:18
Group of experts created Digital Preservation Storage Criteria - https://osf.io/sjc6u/

Alex, will space be less problem in the future? cheapers?

05:40:34
I'd say we do.

05:40:41
Thanks everyone- I have another meeting to run to as well.

05:43:37
We are planning on “outsourcing” our digital preservation as we do not have sufficient expertise. We are starting to digitise our herbarium collections in the National Botanic Gardens of Ireland and are going to collaborate with a national organisation that specialise in digital archiving to maintain the digital images along with metadata.
