I am interested in the Lt. Governor's position on year round schools. To be clear, I am referring to having school throughout the calendar year with ample breaks in between grading periods.

Is there a program where volunteers can serve as "teacher assistants" to help students with their packets or other assignments?

If the role of the Substitute Teachers is to back up Teachers, why are they ignored when it comes to training, briefings, information sharing and benefits. They are not a part of any team.

Is it true that there are states that have requested a waiver of accountability? MDE has repeatedly stated that accountability is out of their hands because it is a federal mandate. Has MDE any plans to request that waiver? To be clear, I want to test.

Would you agree or disagree that there are programs in place, like the Covid money that was put into the unemployment checks, that make people not want to be in the labor force? Those programs are not managed at the local level.

Can you give us some language to use with our local legislators and legislative candidates about why we need to invest more in preK-12 traditional public schools? I had a legislative candidate tell me that I must be a Democrat or work for a partisan organization if I think public schools ought to get more money. … and sadly, he won.
