38:08
awesome!!

38:22
Is it possible to name the current Council members or are the individuals speaking today represent the full Council?

38:22
“on an EDA” … ? does that mean officers, or all members ?

38:45
I have observed several meetings of Federal Council and of its committees. Our councillors have a huge workload in restructuring the party, setting the rules for the next leadership campaign, learning lessons from the 2021 campaign, and much more. I am impressed by how hard they are working. Thank you all!!!

39:05
Only EDA Executive receive the EDA Insider. The Members Insider goes to all members

39:12
Thank you David

39:16
I agree

40:04
next time we should avoid discored in the middle of election

40:17
What do the initials EDA stand for ?

40:32
The EDA is the volunteer executive board

40:38
EDA = Electoral District Association

40:47
Let's hear from the new M.P. Mike Morrice of Kitchener.

40:53
Thanks

41:26
I agree with David Hitchcock 100%

41:27
Hi Tara, We are just the executive. Here is the list of all the councillors https://www.greenparty.ca/en/party/structure/council

41:33
I keep hearing about diversity, but the optics are not working in this meeting. Will check back.

41:36
I totally agree with David, and would like to thank you to all those hard-working volunteers who have taken on the task of being Federal Councillors. Also a shout-out to the people who work on the various committees.

41:41
now our problem is how to get the people interested again with thew kind of discord it will be truly hard

42:02
Kwei all from the unceded land of the Kanien’keha:ka Mohawk Territory, known to settlers as Terrebonne QC

42:43
Exciting

43:08
I thought the member participation in the last Leadership Race was really boosted by Zoom… I never imagined I’d be able to hear several debates from leaders before deciding my vote. I trust we will do it similarly this time round.

43:17
Reminder to set one’s Chat to message to “Everyone” [I’d forgotten earlier…]

43:22
I am just monitoring the chats and trying to respond

43:43
@Keith I agree. Zoom has been wonderful!

44:50
Is there any chance that food production in Canada could be legislated to be organic only?

45:03
I am relatively new to the party, not to the ideals but to GPC,

45:09
Very encouraging--respectful dialogue is a good place to start.

45:24

46:23
How soon do you think the rules for the next leadership run will be ready for people to start seriously considering if they can do this?

46:35
We need another team with the acronym NINJA

I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that personally, ther was no explanation of the internal issue that caused he debacle just prior to the last election.

50:32
Yes - thank you interpreter!

50:52
Federal council, you’ve done a great job at choosing our interim leader (the process and the outcome). Thank you!

53:00
I’d like to thank Federal Council for taking the step to offer this town hall, and I hope that people will take the opportunity to attend Federal Council meetings. And I would like to echo Keith Wiley’s request that the leadership race incorporates many virtual opportunities to meet the candidates in a range of ways.

53:10

53:22
bonsoir Simon et Cecile

53:23
can we get that Jedi anacronym again? justice equity diversity inclusion?

53:42
Super Clément, je suis prête!

53:44
yes that’s right

54:08
@JohnGrogan - signed.

54:22
I so hope the party will truly have a social justice peace based platform that rejects militari$m and Canada’s role as an appendage of American Empire. Canada out of NATO.

54:44
I believe that the electorate considered the Green Party as extreme left and having set impossible policies. Ideals are great, they are the ideal but many voters seemed to have the impression that we were stuck with only supporting impossible extremes and not supporting the possible. It would be nice to be seen as realistic and fiscally responsible party putting the core values first. Supporting local and so green that seven year olds understand what we are about.

54:45
You have the right words for JEDI :)

54:48
Agreed - I’d like to thank the Council and Amita and the translator! 👍

56:14
Susan, BRAVO!

Agreed, Dr. Lisa@

56:47

super chantal!

57:13
Q (Leadership race): Kudos to the Council for all you're doing! Q: Will there be minimums required of Leadership candidates - $$$ raised, new member sign-ups, etc.? I'm hoping we "lower the bar", especially not requiring signing new members. Dennis in Winnipeg

57:19
Everyone be sure your email contact is up to date so you do not miss notices.

57:38
super chantal!

57:40
Jillian, I agree with you 100%. Until we get back to a fully-costed platform, we will continue to be taken as impractical 'flakes'.

57:44
Where do you update your information please

57:52
Jillian Foster ‘hit the nail on the head’

58:03
It would be good for members to chat among ourselves

58:17
Council meetings would go on forever if members were able to ask questions.

58:27
We need to offer Canadians a party that differs from the rest that truly stands for something. Last election every party including the Greens offered the neoliberal agenda and we were indistinguishable from the rest.

59:05
Progress is being made!

59:14
yes! Lorraine. The How!

59:16
the green are green the problem are the people

59:43
Salut tout le monde! Hello friends in Alberta and across Canada :)

Yes thank you Lorraine and Dr. Lisa for your great work! This is very hopeful going forward.

Le prochain (e) leader devrait avoir les aptitudes pour rivaliser avec les les leaders du PLC ou du PCC.

01:04:02
Is there an option to have a translation in English?

01:04:17
Wouldn’t it be more in accord with core Green values to elect a Spokesperson rather than a Leader?

01:04:18
Yes, To turn on the live translation in English, please click at the button " interpretation ", which should be displayed at the bottom right of your screen, then click on english

Bravo aux jeunes pour leur vision

01:05:21
Members outreach in the community now to build momentum

01:05:22
I think that the law requires a Leader.

01:05:43
David~ correct

01:06:08
Back in the 1980's, we had ''paper'' leaders.

01:06:12
Tout les jeunes devrait regarder les positions libres pout le conseils des JVC! https://www.greenparty.ca/en/party/structure/ygc-council

01:06:21
The Green Party of Germany has co-leaders

01:06:53
we need unity

01:06:58
Co-Leaders might be possible.

01:07:12
UK Green party had co-leaders in the past, think they are back to a single leader now, who isn't their MP

01:07:12
Merci Gabriel!

01:07:16
La vision de notre parti devrait s'adapter non seulement aux millénaux et les nouvelles générations mais récupérer le plus de conservateurs et libéraux.

01:07:18
The British Green party also has co-leaders. It seems an excellent idea to me.

01:07:20
Thanks so much for the translation help! Sadly, I missed Clements talk about a leadership race.

01:07:22
Certainly leadership debates affect election votes, thus a leader is required until we get proportional government

01:07:33
The Green Party of New Zealand has Co Leaders

01:07:52
My preference is for co-Leaders

01:08:13
Reminder - It's 8:45pm ET, 15min left for this webinar.

01:08:36
New Zealand is a couple hour drive from coast to coast. Not relevant

01:08:53
Can we afford in house mental health counsellor(s)? Asking for a friend.

01:08:57
your sincerity will bring the party back

01:08:59
I pledge for an internal review of the GPC governance model, to fix the issue regarding its dichotomy in leadership/authority and avoid damaging future infights

01:09:06
Bravo Anita

01:09:15
You all have my support 100%.

01:09:26
Please do nor shy away from robust internal debate

01:09:41
you should be able to transmit that to akl

01:09:41
Hear hear!

01:09:44
You are an inspiration, Amita. Just the person we need in this moment. Thank you.

01:09:46
The Green Party of Scotland has Co Leaders one of whom is Canadian

01:10:11
Amen, Susan Andrews!

01:10:27
German Greens has Co-leaders - worked really well

01:10:29
thank you for being leader!

01:10:33
So good to hear you talk Amita!

01:10:34
When will we have an in person convention? Very important for cohesion.

01:10:40
I think that true leaders foster the leadership in each person in the group. We all need to lead in what we are doing.

01:10:40
KUDOS AMITA, well stated!

01:10:41
Such gratitude for all the how and what you do💖

01:10:59
i have to ask you have you ask permission to the indigenous group about your candidacy

01:11:08
I am very impressed with our President, our Interim Leader and our National Council.

01:11:14
because thewty own this land

01:11:24
You're an incredibly compelling speaker, Dr. Kuttner. I'm really glad you're interim leader. Proud that I put you in my top 2 in the leadership candidates... you made it in!

01:11:29
who would you endorse in a leadership race?

01:11:45
WOW Amita. If we can learn to do that within the party, we will provide the solution to many world ills.

01:11:52
Thank you Amita!!

01:11:52
Bravo, Amita!!

01:11:57
Scotland is an old small democracy, again very different than Canada. They are like Quebec in terms of distinctiveness and minority within Great Britain

01:12:03
Very Well Said Amita!

01:12:05
The real T

01:12:07
I also support you, council members, fully.

01:12:08
Well said Amita. Thank you.

01:12:08
Well said Amita. We do, indeed, just want to get to work.

01:12:09
Well spoken Dr Kuttner. Thank you. There is a way forward. There is so much more optimism, understanding and tolerance that I am hearing this evening. This is what I think a political party should eschew in Canada. Bravo !

01:12:12
Thank you, Amita for your thoughts and wise counsel. I deeply appreciate the role you are playing and how you are playing it.

01:12:18
Global Green Charter

01:12:33
Thank you Dr Kuttner. Very encouraging for me to hear.

01:12:44
Yes, Lorraine!!

01:12:50
right on. living, breathing codes of conduct and relationship

01:12:51
Well stated Amita! Honesty and openness.

01:13:00
Dr. Kuttner your candor is appreciated. You have not really said much, but even this would have beeen comforting a few months ago. In future I hope you speak to uswhen there is difficulty.

01:13:01
So glad you are our interim leader Dr Amita

01:13:32
Phase 2 of the Virtual General Meeting (VGM) will take place on March 25, 26 and 27, 2022. Please join us virtually for the conclusion of our first ever Virtual General Meeting. The recording of Phase 1 (November 26-27, 2021) will be available shortly. If you have any questions or want to volunteer, please email generalmeeting@greenparty.ca

01:13:44
I like what I’m hearing, which is very refreshing!!

01:13:46
Report back from Lessons Learned Committee feels way overdue. An all members conversation / assembly / truth & reconciliation has been necessary. We are forgetting… which is not necessarily a good thing. We must learn from our mess, not forget it. imho

01:13:51

01:13:53
We have to stay the course and not be distracted by peripheral issues

01:13:56
After listening through excruciating lands trust committee meetings in my local area via Zoom, I thought this meeting would be a slog to listen to. This is giving me a lot of positive feelings for the future of the GPC in Canada. I hope the country finds trust in us again.

01:13:58
Zero carbon event

01:14:30
I like the idea of holding true to our core values and build resiliency from undemocratic behaviours by becoming more democratic in our internal organizing. Any ideas about grassroots organizing, decentralization and organizing in our local communities?

01:14:30
The internet is not zero carbon.

01:14:47
We need only look to Ottawa, at present, or to our dear cousins to the south,to see what we never want to represent.

01:14:48
oh, my…. surely an hour is insufficient. and yes, I am so grateful for this gathering.

01:15:16
Thank you for organizing this session.

01:15:27
Thank you so much for this forum

01:15:27
Thanks for this event. Bravo aux membres du conseil pour leur engagement.

01:15:30
See above which mentions a recording of a virtual general meeting (of Nov 2021).

01:15:34
perhaps sent transcript/recording to all members

01:15:44
It has been brief, but I like that most of the time was for questions from the members

01:16:17
I wish I could save the chat

01:16:31
Where are recordings from VGM Phase 1 ?

01:16:36
Thank you for this meeting. A new optimism !

01:16:37
Thanks for all the great work!Would be nice to have access to the recordings of town hall meetings (in case we can’t join the meeting live)

01:16:37
Merci Clement

01:17:14
Dr. Kuttner this was cut off from my response ...but thank you for your explanation.

01:17:17
Thank you all for this event.

01:17:48
Great job. Thanks for this.

Thanks everyone! Merci!

01:18:20
Welalin. Merci

01:18:20
Oh NOOO - please stand again.

01:18:22
always thought gpc needed more communication with membership. these meetings are great.

01:18:22
There’s a completely new and different, positive vibe tonight.

01:18:24
Yes, please know that you are definitely supported. We are excited about the changes and I for one, am ready, to grow the possibilities of electing a Green in an Ottawa seat … soon!

01:18:25
Thank you GPC Executive Committee, and Dr. Kuttner!!! And thanks for the simultaneous translation!

01:18:34

Si votre circonscription n'a pas encore d'ACE et que vous souhaitez en créer une, veuillez contacter soutien@partivert.ca https://www.greenparty.ca/fr/parti/votre-comt%C3%A9

01:18:49
Thank you all for sharing your hard work to reinvigorate the party.

01:18:58
Glad we had this forum

01:18:59
I echo Amita's sentiment that there appears no place to bring things to the attention of the party when they appear to be going wrong. I recognize there are issues with funding but my experience as a candidate was not good as far as communication with the party goes. I almost felt that my Candacy was being sabotaged from within. Thanks for this meet. I hope to keep getting emails.

01:18:59
Thank you Connie!

01:18:59
Hear, hear, Dr. Lisa!!

01:19:06
Thanks everyone for this meeting.

01:19:08
Dr, Kuttner that was a smoke and mirrors speech so I shall continue to hope for transparency.

01:19:16
Thank you all, for so much dedication!

01:19:32
Good luck there,Carrie!

01:19:36
Lets make sure that we are ready for an election. It may come sooner than we want

01:19:38
Thank you all for this evening. Thank you even more for your daily hard work and commitment. Thank you for the care and thoughtfulness you have given to the party at a time when it was most important.

01:19:46
Thanks, Dr. Lisa, for your service. I'd love for you to stay on. or come back.

01:20:14

Yes Dr. Lisa, I am amazed to keep learning as I get older. Inspiration and sorrow are all part of my education.

01:20:48
J'ai tenté de faire un don et ca ne fonctionne pas

01:20:55
THANK YOU TO THE YOUTH LEADERS <3

01:20:59
Thanks for your meetings. There is no way this work would happen on anyone’s own. Real change means working together. I like the talent show idea!!!

01:21:04
Thank you Debra

01:21:09
Get the word out about the letter to Stephen Gilbeaut.

01:21:11
Please declare candidates at least one year in advance in order to allow them to prepare better, especially for fundraising.

01:21:12
Please be sure Google search for GPC has only current links because some info is outdated.

01:21:19
I really appreciated this meeting tonight. Nice overview, will help with where to look for more in depth information. Thanks for your work!!

01:21:33
Yes :)

01:21:46
Recruit Dan Levy for training that talent show and you will be having more talent than you could handle or imagine!

01:21:49
