What are “below market studios?”
Beth
40:58
subsidized studio spaces?
Christine Koppes
41:35
Below market studios are below typical studio costs in the area
Meryl Pataky
41:39
the studios are priced below market rates. affordable.
Nicki Moffat
42:01
How does one find them?
Cindy Stokes
43:49
search on "artist studio" in your area and then start calling every studio space that comes up. They wont necessarily say "below market" in whatever you find online. Also look for arts nonprofits - sometimes they have studios and typically try to offer them below market.

I’m hoping that the gallerists will speak to the anxiety new collectors often feel when dealing with galleries. Tips for dealing with galleries and overcoming this anxiety!?
Christine Koppes

What’s happened to the prices for Amy Sherald’s work since her wonderful portrait of Michelle Obama?
Nicki Moffat

Looking at Clare Rojas’ work, seems like it’s kind of a melding of Indigenous art and Latina art????? Reminds me a bit of the art of the Northwest here in the U.S. Love it.

When you are representing a hot artist, how do you decide who to sell an artwork to, when you have multiple offers? The notion of first come first serve doesn’t really work if certain collectors or institutions are given previews. How does that system of deciding who to preview and who to expose a work to really work?
Doug Edwards
01:14:05
How do you feel about a site like collecteurs.com, which allows collectors to share works they’ve purchased that might not otherwise be seen outside of the owner’s home?
Doug Edwards
01:15:26
In other words, Is it hard for a gallery owner or an artist they represent to have a piece be purchased and then disappear (e.g., the Van Gogh that was just released after being in one family’s home for 100 years).

What about photography?
Nicki Moffat
01:29:55
So important to remember that gallerists love art and their artists and want to help promote artists they love. It’s not just money or snobbery! Not at all!
Alison Elliott
