Our school, The Mandala School, would like to participate in the Emergency Assistance to Non-Public Schools Program. However, all of our inspections were received by MSDE by Friday. March 13. 2020, with the exception of our fire inspection, which was completed on Friday. March 13. 2020 (the date of the Federal State of Emergency). We missed MSDE approval for the opportunity to participate in the above MSDE program. Is there a way that we could receive a waiver of eligibility in order to apply to the EANS program?
Vincent Scott

That's a good question

Verifying that another PPE program will be funded.
Bill Leary
47:13
Hello, for all asking questions about current rent/utility assistance in the state of MD, the best advice I can give is to have your folks call 2-1-1. This will immediately take them to one of four call centers where a trained counselor will be able to provide resources on where to apply, and if funding is currently available. Utility assistance is now available, however rental assistance is limited, and may not be available in all areas or appropriate for all callers. Please note that the counselor will provide resources when and where available, the call centers themselves do not have available funding.
Scot Hurley
49:15
Bill, does that assistance apply to individuals only, or are funds available for non-profits?
Bill Leary
51:24
That is geared towards individuals/families. For business/non-profit support I'd recommend applying for a PPP loan, or looking to local businesses who may already support your organization for a one time grant.
Deb Brown
52:00
Hi all....Fuel Fund of Maryland can potentially provide utility assistance to low income households in the BGE service territory. Unfortunately, we do not help business and/or non profits; individual households only. Please visit: www.fuelfundmaryland.org or email me directly: dbrown@fuelfundmaryland.org and I will connect you to a member of our Utility Crisis team.
Bill Leary
52:26
Unfortunately, very few state/federal monies are geared towards our situations.
Shan Gordon
54:48
Thank you, Senator, for talking about the national service program. Would this also include unemployed people ?
Frieda
59:43

Will there be more solicitation opportunities for nonprofits to work directly for Maryland’s various initiatives to help underserved communities and children?
Heather Iliff
01:04:16
Yes, we will post a link on the COVID-19 page of the recording of this session.

YES SENATOR CARDIN. We need a large scale investment of affordable housing.
Kelly Moore
01:11:24
Yes! and most of the time rent costs more than paying a mortgage! so people get stuck!
Kimberly Holmes
01:12:23
My organization was created to assist individuals and families struggling with rent but the need is more than the funding available. We can't seem to keep up.
Ethel Shepard-Powell
01:13:45
