While we see these things all of the time, it is sad how discouraging they are instead of recognizing the grace that has brought most to these ages

57:26
Have highlighted my hair to cover gray hair.

57:49
Color my hair

57:58
As a 20 year old, people often assume that I have no knowledge or passion. I am a recreation coordinator and I absolutely love the work that I do. Some people just don't take me seriously

58:18
I feel like I have touched on all of the above at some point in time. I wish I was more comfortable in my own aging process

58:19
When answering be sure to click To: All Panelists and Attendees (this way we can all see your comments not just our panelists) : )

58:33
I lied about my age when I was younger...made myself older. ;-)

58:38
very sad

58:42
I haven't lie or denied my age, but I hated turning 30 ("no longer young") and I wasn't too sure about turning 60 -- but I'm glad to be living. I do use my age to defend my hearing loss.

59:00
I’ve turned 30 for 3 years now

59:13
I did the same, Denise. I have finally decided to let my gray grow in. I have to admit that the virus situation gave me the impetus to do so.

59:13
I hear you, this year I'll be fffffffffifty, lol

59:25
There is a lot of media messages about aging which boosts the anti-aging industry but is detrimental to our self esteem/image. My mother who is still working at the age of 68 is constantly worried about ageism and is willing to tolerate a lot more than most would in the workplace because she fears being 'let go' because she can't keep up with her job. She won't put her picture on her facebook profile because she is afraid of people discriminating against her age if she is job hunting.

59:36
I showed my mom my first grey hairs on my wedding day LOL

59:54
Turning the big 4-0 in 6 days!

01:00:11
Happy early Birthday Sara

01:00:11
I look much younger than I am, at 63 no one believes me, but I was taken aback when I was charged the sr. price for coffee

01:00:19
Growing older is a gift that is taken away from so many. Cherish each year and each moment.

01:00:36
As a 30 year old with gray hair- I see coloring hair differently.

01:00:57
I've had gray hair since I was 14 years old.

01:01:02
Emily L- same. It is still slow for me but I plan on EMBRACING IT :)

01:01:04
Thank you Jacqueline!

01:01:21
I believe in celebrating every birthday and telling the truth about my age because it’s something to be proud of .

01:01:21
Never lied about my age, but im sure steroeotyped hight shcool kids making fun on new drivers look oh watch out on the road and such. Stereotyping people hurt them so much.

01:01:42
aches and pains

01:01:42
I say "Age is just a number" :) Sherri Bianco

01:02:07
It's funny, though, I wore meticulous makeup for many years, but now at 44 and with the wisdom of my age and my "geriatric" motherhood (gave birth at 40), I wear some mascara and colored lip gloss. I am ok with me. I could have been a younger parent, but I would not be the same mom that I am now.

01:02:08
yes- cynical now- I blame my age

01:02:17
no yet, but I do say I have denentia from association

01:02:24
When I was (much) younger the show "30 something" was on. I remember thinking of the characters...they are all SO old. I had a horrible time turning 30. Not so much turning4o...or 50!!

01:02:24
I call myself and my kids call me as well a "grandma driver"

01:02:40
Cheryl W - I also say dementia is "contagious"

01:02:47
lol Cheryl

01:03:15
I agree Charles

01:03:28
It is sad in that it is a great loss and missed opportunity when we devalue older adults.

01:03:29
I hear a lot of ageism right now about millennials

01:03:53
Agreed Johanna. We assume things about a whole generation.

01:03:58
I love person-first language- the more you use it, the more you are viewing the PERSON FIRST, and others around you will hopefully start using it more to

01:04:00
too*

01:04:25
Dementia is not just a condition for those who are in the upper digits of life, people as young as 25 have the condition

01:04:47
The older generation is SOO amazing! lived through so much! so many stories to tell.

01:04:54
I am terrified that I might catch it and give it to the residents at my location-because it would be fatal if that were to happen

01:05:05
I do have to say my mom is appreciative of senior hours

01:05:33
People forget that someone can be 80 and be in better shape than some 20 year olds

01:05:40
To the 4 questions: Yes, yes, yes, and not so much.

01:06:03
our society is in a balance point time, at one end is people who want and NEED to work longer, and on the other is the world of work that slides people out of the work world when they are beyond 60. Funny, to have this happen when social security does not fully kick in until 66... 67... and is moving toward 70...

01:06:05
ditto happy early birthday Sara!

01:06:43
Thank you Alicia!

01:07:43
I am terrified, because what if I catch it and I pass it on to my residents, coworkers or my family.

01:09:19
WHO IS A GOOD BOY <3

01:10:09
(Penny's dog, NOT the person on the screen)

01:16:15
ditto it’s a huge pet peeve of mine as well.

01:16:38
I think being called mame is worse

01:17:14
Can't stand to hear people talk "baby talk" to the older generation...it's the worst!

01:18:16
I told my staff that by the end of this, you will be the most creative people, more then you even thought you could be! :)

01:18:31
Nancy- that is awesome!

01:18:36
and so true!

01:18:40
We have taken advantage of COVID-19 regulations to really boost our one-to-one programs. Our staff have really focused on individuals.

01:19:41
I can't wait for Ohio weather to get nice, my residents LOVE to be out in the court yard & everyone needs to get out!!

01:21:49
I agree!

01:22:12
Ashley it has allowed me to work on our 1:1's as well!

01:22:43
I love that we have been doing more 1:1. several residents have stated how special they feel that they are being visited daily by staff. In AZ it’s warming up we have doing individual walks in the garden.

01:22:52
