Here in Dallas, we have hot. And humid. No mountains for quite a bit, and the closest ocean is the Gulf of Mexico, where there’s even more hot. And humid.

@Carrie Yes, it's disheartening. A good reminder that we always need to advocate for ourselves and our worth.

My uncle says that people don’t quit jobs/companies, but they quit bosses.
Heather (HMR)
01:01:21
Yes, Will. Great point. A barrier to some researchers starting new positions is the fear that they will be on an island alone at a new company given the current work arrangements.
Erik Larsen
01:02:51
It's ok, Lisa. I work at my kitchen counter with dinosaur pictures behind me

I think some companies are trying to replace empathy, leadership, mentorship and training with PTO, snacks & gym memberships. I think that is where the problem is.

Question came in from audience:
Amanda Alvarez - TMRE 2021
01:13:57
I have major job title envy and feel like it's holding me back, internally and externally. I have 9 years of experience but have never had the words 'senior' or 'manager' in my title. How can I advocate to my current boss for a title change without seeming super narcissistic and shallow? Or am I ? ;)
Amanda Alvarez - TMRE 2021
01:16:54

Some companies won't give manager/director titles if you don't manage people. Counter that with the fact you are managing projects and/or clients.
Kylie Moskevich

01:25:35
It's why there are Project Managers and not "Project People."
