Hi everyone! As Hannah & Sam share their insights on the formal care sector, feel free to type your questions here. We'll take 1-2 before moving onto the informal sector with Sarah.
as an at home carer too. should we be prioritised to be tested so we can visit with confidence?
Has the ration carers to residents unchanged?
I joined late and this may have already been mentioned but what about the Hancock call for NHS volunteers being allocated to home care?
discharge of dementia & Parkinson's patients concerns me as their muscle strength & balance will have deteriorated during hospitalisation. In addition the agitation & confusion as a result of discharge will be unbearable for many dementia patients. An increase in re-admission is a real risk due to trips & falls. Think we should engage as many people/groups/organisations in helping make this discharge process more successful and sustainable.
can you imagine arriving at a dementia call looking like an alien
Thank you, Hannah & Sam!--Folks, please share your response to the following question in our poll: "what should be our focus within the formal care sector?"We understand there are loads of questions and will find ways to continue this conversation post-webinar. Keep the questions flowing!

Please type questions for Sarah, when comes to mind. Thanks
We are replacing our weekly golf sessions with a group chat (Zoom) instead. Carers are setting the agenda for each call. The carers are already so stressed out. Many of their loved don't understand what's going on and why they can't go out. Definite increase in agitation & challenging behaviour. I feel for them all who have virtually no break 24/7.
Sarah, are you still only operating in Hampshire or have you expanded?
Sarah and Sanjay, what's your take on NHS decision yesterday to centralise the coordination of covid-19 volunteer effort with the "250,000 NHS volunteer army" via the GoodSAM platform?
At the end of this crisis the unpaid carers need to be provided with extended respite support for their heroic efforts. Their batteries will definitely need re-charging. Their health & wellbeing has already been seriously compromised.
Are all volunteers being DBS checked?
Question to Roland - Sanjay, are you in contact with the AHSNs? They are looking for platforms that can vet volunteers faster and better than the NHS can.
Hi Jessie…..as a digital therapeutic company we are trying to support people in medical isolation to build their mental resilience and protect their mental health. How can people on the conf call work with us to get distribution to these at risk patients.
@michael I will share something shortly
there is a list available
I’ll provide a link
should dbs checks be free for all community groups/volunteer groups - part of the support package ?
Q from Roland: We’re trying. Connecting at this time is difficult as everyone is understandably busy. Any connections appreciated.
Q from Anthony: DBS is a big cost, rising proportionately to the rapid increase in volunteer sign ups. Making it free would make a significant difference to those recruiting volunteers.
Thank you Sanjay
Hey Sanjay, if you reach out to Peter Rhodes at Wessex AHSN I know he's interested https://wessexahsn.org.uk/meet-the-people/95/peter-rhodes
If you send me an email on email@example.com I can send you his email
I think that link is a generic one
How about planning respite havens for carers post virus with all the support they need to get their lives back on track - almost like carers rehab?
I have to drop off the call now but a huge thank you to you all for sharing your insights, and a particularly big THANKYOU to Jesse and Erick for setting this up. and I hope to join another webinar with you all soon.
The big risk of ignoring the potential impact of a collapse in unpaid carers wellbeing is too scary to contemplate.
THANK YOU JESSIE AND ERIC
Great work - all the discussions were wonderful
Really useful. Thanks for the opportunity.
Thank you everyone!
