Addressing sexual harassment in colleges and creating a culture of equality, respect and consent - Shared screen with speaker view
Who can see your viewing activity?
Please put your questions for our speakers here
Is there a view that there is under reporting in FE? What is ‘a few settings’ for FE?
will you be looking at behaviour data / policies as part of this review?
Are special schools and colleges included in the sample surveyed.
Will you be publishing best practice from your finding?
The KCSIE guidance is very clear so I would hope it's in existing policies
Who is organising the pre plan questions - can you repeat the name
Can I also mention the Reference Group which has been set up and which I am on, where we are able to input to the review, help consider the evidence and help shape the review findings. We are meeting weekly as a Reference Group. (Probably only 2 colleges will be visited, out of about 30 i think)
There is also an element of ensuring that the inspection framework is appropriate I believe
Thank you so much Kate
You spoke about a culture change and prevention, which we agree with. We have concerns that increased viewing of pornography is negatively influencing this issue and the culture of young people and their expectations. Do you have any suggestions on how to tackle this? Or knowledge of any resources that are already available?
How can we access resources?
Thank you Nina, that really was excellent.
Thanks Nina, that was increadibly useful.
Thank you Nina - really impactful and useful presentation.
Would you share your strategy Veronica?
This would be very helpful
Hi Veronica I am very interested in your strategy and thank you for sharing your very valuable approach
Thanks Collette - we have found that a whole-college approach works well.
Hi Karen/Collete/Aaliyah - more than happy to share more on what we are doing.
Aaliyah Bassey - BCoT
Thank you very much Veronica
Nina Burrowes (she/her)
For those who were asking about resources: https://www.consentcollective.com/
Great overview of your work and approach Nikkie
Really helpful, thanks both
Thank you great appraoch
Thank you both - you covered several thing sI was going to ask without me having to ask
Nikki how will your dedicated email inbox work - would this include just reports of sexual violence/harassment or for all safeguarding concerns
is it possible to generate a list of reccomended trainers in this field?
We could set up a termly meeting where we share ideas and resources maybe?
That's sound like a really good idea. Thanks Sue
Ofsted seem to have a focus on schools in their review and the Consent Collective on Uni, all of which we can learn from but is there a need for someone to do more work to specifically focus on FE?
Really helpful thank you
Aaliyah Bassey - BCoT
What organisation is marilyn from?
Is this webinar being recorded and will we be able to access this or a copy of the Power-points etc
What was the name of the organization Veronica?
Marilyn Hawes, Freedom from Abuse
What is Marilyn surname pleae - missed it.
Rachel Fairhurst, Integrated Trauma Solutions
Thank you Nikki, we have a generic email safeguarding inbox, so I am particularly interested the thinking behind this.
Thank you for today’s presentations - will the slides be made available ?
This session is being recorded and we will circulate the recording and slides by the end of the day.
How to keep boys and young men on board and not make them feel demonised - esp given you men's mental health problems currently?
Thank you for a great session.
I meant 'young men's'
Thank you for an excellent meeting
i definitley think we need to develop this as a sector. we need the collective support of each other as many of us arent experts in this field
We are planning on starting with small focus groups to hear our students' voices - would you suggest keeping genders separate initially?
Nikki I am wondering if it's possible to share your student voice questionnaire - it might give us a consistent approach across the colleges - and give us more information as a collective as well as individuals?
Well said Nina.
Thanks great answers to my Q
Happy to Andrea
Thank you Nikki
I agree Nina- information sharing is key. Sometimes we only find out after the session has taken place
