I was glad to hear Ed Begley speak 2 years ago at the Pacific Unitarian Church in Palos Verdes, where I also spoke the following month after Ed Begley, on the topic of Henry David Thoreau and John Muir common caring about “native ecology” of Native American Indigenous Tribal Cultures in contrast to western science, or what we can refer to also as ecological consciousness, environmental ethics and ecofeminism. Peace, ‘Roy’

I'm in Hermosa Beach with rooftop solar since 1999, driving fully electric since 2001, and battery storage and heat exchanger water heating since 2017. Hoping for a microgrid in Hermosa Beach soon!

No blowers at all! They spread virus and other particulates. Just RAKE. Or leave the leaf litter for the ecosystem. Otherwise, it just gets blown from one year to another, and then back again!

No blowers would be best but even the interim step of moving to electric is a giant leap forward. For those not ready to ditch blowers entirely, shifting to electric will not only save the environment, it'll tremendously improve your neighborhood's quality of life

I was a volunteer organizer of the first Earth Day in NYC at the age of 17 while in High School. I currently teach soil and plant science helping our clients create Living Soil which is a regenerative soil that sequesters carbon and gets better every year to grow nutrient dense foods www.blueskybiochar.com 818-599-9119

Better to use the term naturalzed species rather than “invasive species” term. Hundreds of scientists have now countered the other scientists that think certain trees and wildflowers are bad. All plants are good. Nature is complex. One example is that our native wildlife are benefitting by naturalized species. Native plants and naturalized plants are both positive to ecosystem in equally sequestering carbon and storing carbon. Just wanted to set the record straight with open discussion and transparency and truth to power.

Thanks Mike and Ben, as when we shut down poisonous methane gas storage at Ballona Wetlands, we also stop the bulldozing of more than 1,700 species of animal and plants and exacerbating the biodiversity hotspot in Los Angeles. Poisonous methane gas is used to make plastic and to generate electricity at our refineries in Los Angeles County. Peace, ‘Roy’

Poisonous methane gas must not be allowed to be used as transition fossil fuel. Methane has been determine to be worse than coal and oil. I think that the fossil fuel industry has the state legislature paralyzed through big donations. What are you doing, Senator Allen to silence the fossil fuel lobby in Sacramento? Plastic is nibbling at the edges, as that does not eliminate the fossil fuel industry lobbyist in Sacramento. What do you think, Ben?

Ballona Roy, Earth
01:30:13
Our state agency, under Governor Gavin Newsom, known as the Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) will not shut down the poisonous methane gas storage at Ballona and Playa del Rey, but is finding ways for methane to continue to be stored underground for the next 50 years, with risk to human health and safety, and climate change. We need to move away from the state of California managing the Ballona Wetlands and biodiversity, as this state agency CDFW is primarily a hunting and fishing agency that supports commercial rape of the ocean and land and supports cattle grazing on our public lands that causes erosion and methane into the atmosphere. On and on. We need state legislature to match what city of LA is doing to shut down PDR Gas Plant of SEMPRA (So Cal Gas Company). Peace, ‘Roy’

Lead Platinum rating is a business-related recognition and has shown to be a meaningless designation. Not to denigrate Ed Begley, as his presentation is superb and he is living how John Muir and Henry David Thoreau would be living if they were here with us today. Sierra Club is awesome on these topics that ed Begley speaks to you tonight.

So glad that you are not harming the so-called “invasive squirrel” not native to LA, and is from eastern US, so the squirrel is naturalized brought here by post civil war southern veterans of the Confederacy along with the Opossum. Better to refer to these mammals as naturalized not “invasive” as certain animal haters like that masquerade as scientists at UCLA like to tell us.
