Is it a paid App?

08:47
It is FREE for teachers with under 200 (?) students.

09:06
LCC only accepts presenters who are not promoting any purchase.

09:39
As a reminder, the slides and resources including a recording will be made available on the LCC website tomorrow.

14:53
Does a high volume of texting have implications for students' monthly phone usage fees?

15:43
I think it depends on the plan they have. I doubt we can answer that question in this session.

20:33
I had a question about accuracy.

20:35
WOW!!!!

23:37
Could you send the message to each learner twice? Once in their own language and a second time in English so they have both and can learn English a bit that way?

24:59
I'm just downloading the app, and it appears there is a different app for parents and for teachers

25:05
It would be SO helpful if we REALLY need to communication particularly important information in a way we know our learners will understand.

25:55
Katie, being a polyglot, and having learned 3 languages as a child, I find that I tend not to translate between the languages. It's as if I have a "drawer" for each language. I encourage my students to try to do the same as much as possible. So, I ask them to look up words in English instead of in their language. What are your thoughts?

28:44
Can you make it speak the message for people with low literacy in their home language?

30:36
If the student has a passage they want to work on, does the app allow for cutting & pasting of text from online sources? or photographing a hardcopy text and uploading the image into the app?

39:30
The instructions are also in the folder of all the handouts for today's sessions:

40:33
Link to the folder: literacycolorado.org > Volunteers > Upcoming Events

44:06
how to delete students or send to just one student?

45:30
will it send the message if the phone number is from outside the US

45:39
Thank you so much Katie. Great resource!

46:09
Thank you - this is an amazing resource!

47:18
Many phones have the ability to read a message out loud (so even if the app can’t specifically, the phone might be able to……? not sure)

49:39
Would the students have to also download the "Talking Point," to send messages to us or does it work like a zoom or webex?

50:38
No, she said the students don’t have to download it

53:54
If that was an issue, student may be able to get a Google Voice number is order to use this app. Texts to the Google Voice number could be set up to forward to their international number. (Would take a bit a set-up, but may be possible)

59:15
Thank you!!

01:00:02
It is not available outside US.

01:01:24
oh interesting! I didn’t realize that Deeksha. Thanks for sharing.
