Question for everyone: Can an organization apply for funding if we already received funding from your organization in a recent grant cycle? Question for the Healing Trust: Can an organization apply for funding from your org. if we did not previously qualify within the elegibility criteria?

Yes, Joseph. COVID-19 is affecting everyone! Documented and undocumented alike but the undocumented are afraid to seek health care and are slipping through the safety-net put in place.

Giving Tuesday has moved to May 5.
Viva Price
01:56:21
Good morning! How are funders ensuring resource are included equitably? Smaller nonprofits don't often have the same platforms or established relationships with those who are making funding decisions and are often excluded from selections. How do we ensure that does not happen during this time? It seems the same funders have been selected even with the most recent distribution of funds to provide services to the community.
Chelsea Cahill
01:57:23
Yes @Pam - does anyone on the panel have insights on how to navigate Giving Tuesday on May 5th and The Big Payback on May 6th/7th?
Joseph Gutierrez

Do you have advice for organizations who are not "on the front line" but help in other ways - arts organizations, parks and gardens.
Kim Drake
02:01:50
@Rebecca Speaking on behalf of the Donors Forum, I can tell you all that long term sustainability is on everyone funder's radar but timing will be important. It is easy for all of us to lose track of how quickly this has unfolded. It has been a VERY long three weeks. We all need to extend patience and grace while keeping our communications lines open.

In light of the tax benefit change made with the CARES Act (the $300/person above-the-line giving opportunity for all tax payers, even those who take the standard deduction), has anyone seen simplified messaging for explaining this to the public? Perhaps it's something we can all use for Giving Tuesday and The Big Payback outreach.
Tari Hughes
02:07:17
Please use the raise hand feature to ask a question. It is your turn!
Brad Palmertree
02:07:21
Another benefit to nonprofits in the recently-passed CARES Act: the limitations on charitable contributions have been raised and provides a $300 charitable contribution deduction for ALL taxpayers, whether they itemize or not). Take advantage of that in your fundraising messaging.

To piggyback on Viva's question, what is the best first step in establishing a new relationship with you? Is there anything you want from us outside of applying during a grant cycle, especially as we lean into this season of strengthening relationships in the wake of many pivots.

Giving Week - use a variety of ways for people to learn about how they can invest in your work - zoom meet-ups, email messages, social media postings. Raise on Giving Tuesday. Match (or raise more to your goal) on Big Payback. Don’t want to pull away from Big Payback but maybe this is a way to spotlight the good work of our sector (collectively to impact community and individually where we are expert/best) and truly amplify our message as an important part of the three-legged stool (gov, private bus, nonprofit).

Agree with Dawana, we are all eager to partner, innovate and pivot as we work diligently to create financial contingency plans that include navigating the incredibly tedious and ever changing CARES Act options as the need for our services increases. Any infrastructure, information, guidance and support our funders can share is welcome. As you've a more comprehensive view of the nonprofit sector, you may have insights that could be helpful. Thankful to CNM for creating this forum for us to connect.
