Are the Frederick mount courses designed and exclusive high school students? Or will they be taking classes with come enrolled mount students?

20:36
The part time classes at the Frederick campus are all Saint John's students.

21:17
Currently the courses taught at Frederick are exclusively high school students from SJCP in a face to face format. However, there may be other Catholic high school students who will zoom into the same courses at the Frederick campus.

21:22
Thank you. And the courses taught at Mount Saint Mary's campus are regular college courses?

21:49
Will they get full college credit for the courses taken at the Frederick campus, if they do so?

22:01
Correct. Our students integrate with all the students on the campus. They do have a freshman symposium all together as a group.

22:21
Yes - they get full college credit whether on the Frederick or Emmitsburg campus

22:28
Wow that's great!

22:44
Ah the experience self-advocating with professors is a good thing to learn!

22:49
All courses are regular college curriculum, however, the courses taught at the main campus are taught to both high school students and college students in the same section. Typically the college students are freshman.

22:59
Plus they get credit from us for their required courses-- such as English

23:17
Thank you.

28:35
Does enrolling in this program impact the student's ability to apply for scholarships in subsequent years (I believe it said the first year didn't qualify because of the discounted tuition)?

28:36
what is the cost involved for those students who want to take full time classes at the mount, versus the part time courses at the Frederick campus? Or is the cost the same?

28:54
Great question Mr. Leslie. She is going to cover that in one of the slides

29:04
TYVM

29:07
Mrs. Cincotta, that will be covered in one of the slides

29:12
Okay thank you

30:17
if they do part time Fall, do they have to do part time Spring (& vice versa)?

30:24
So the kids who take full time courses at the mount, they can still participate in saint johns sports teams?

30:25
Yes.

30:46
For part time- you choose one or 2 classes in the fall and 1 or 2 in the spring

31:02
And yes- those at full time mount can participate in all SJCP activities.

31:20
They will just need to plan their courses around those times.

31:38
They will also get all of SJCP resources such as college counseling

31:55
In terms of sports, we work with the SJCP students to devise a schedule that will work around their sports/practice schedules. So typically we would help them to create a schedule where all of their courses end by 1:30pm or 2pm.

34:02
what about financial aid?

34:13
There is no financial aid if you choose full time

34:16
Thank you Monahan!

34:25
It is a flat fee of 21,000

34:37
with the $700 comprehensive fee as well

34:58
Thank you

44:41
Do we have any SJCP students who didn't leave the Mount after completing this program for another school?

45:27
This past year I believe all of our first group matriculated to other schools although quite a few applied to the Mount

45:46
This year we are still waiting to hear from many of our seniors their final decisions on where they will attend

47:28
Yes, many applied to the Mount and were accepted. However, we really work with the students to help them to identify courses as distribution credits for whatever university they plan to attend. While we would love for them to remain at the Mount, we encourage them to share the names of the universities that they plan to apply to and work to guide them to the appropriate course work.

48:06
Thank you.

48:48
Like Liz said, the Mount is wonderful in helping our students plan for their college career- at the Mount or other places. They really have the students' best interests at heart.

53:06
Thank you for all this input!

53:18
Certainly

53:55
Question on the part time course offering at the Frederick campus -- will it be in-class instruction twice a week like at st. johns or will they have their own schedule ?

54:12
The classes meet M/W or T/Th in the morning

54:32
The students take the class at the campus and then come to Saint John's for the rest of their classes

54:49
So it's a schedule that mixes college and high school together

55:18
And the biggest part of your question- yes in person

55:37
Okay thank you. I dont' think I would want my student enrolled in full time courses at the mount, only to discover that they had gone fully online as a covid protocol. Sounds like the part time courses will followSJPS class schedules then.

56:17
The Mount this year has had hybrid classes and our full time students had the option to be in person or virtual like all the students at the Mount

56:25
Yes, it is the in-class instruction that is important for us. I don't see the benefit of college courses all online.

56:34
Oh! I thought the mount was all online this year

56:34
Our Frederick campus students have been in person

57:00
Thank you

57:06
The part time program offered at the Frederick campus is face to face and the SJCP students are taught by Mount faculty. In the past, students from other Catholic high schools, St. Maria Goretti, and Bishop Ireton have zoomed into the classes with the SJCP students.

01:00:00
That's interesting - they are taking classes also with students from other catholic schools!

01:01:28
Yes, typically we've had 3 or 4 other students from other Catholic high schools who have Zoomed into the courses from their high schools. The SJCP students are able to see them on a rather large screen in the classroom and they participate as if they are sitting in the room.

01:03:00
On transferring, usually don't schools try to fill their class in Freshman year, so when they go to apply for Sophomore year, aren't they competing for a small number of seats?

01:03:03
:) I'm sure the love that it is projected into a large screen!! ha.

01:03:18
They are still considered first year students

01:03:28
They just have sophomore status in terms of credits

01:04:40
correct me if I misunderstand, does this mean that a student who takes full course load at Mount Saint Marys and then attends school at another university after graduation, they will be actual transfers as sophmores?

01:05:00
They will not be transfers. Mrs. Anders is discussing now

01:05:05
Got it

01:05:09
First year students.

01:05:41
First year as a high school graduate. Makes sense.

01:05:56
accelerated graduation possibly

01:06:07
because of the additional credits you earned in high school

01:06:09
?

01:06:10
Yes possibly-- depending on the university and the program

01:06:47
that's great! you can register with the sophmores as a freshman!

01:07:49
Really helped. Thanks.

01:08:19
I know it varies by school, but Purdue also offered a parking pass and first choice for on-campus housing. (because she was classified as Sophomore)

01:10:19
Do you have to go full time to receive the amount of credits that classify you as a sophomore?

01:10:35
Great question Miranda

01:10:50
The full time will give you the most credits to classify as a sophomore

01:11:07
although- if you have AP credits that could combine with other college credits as well

01:11:35
Ok thank you!

01:15:22
What is the student isn't 18?

01:15:25
Mount Saint Marys students will be required to get the vaccine? How about SJPS? Or the Mount Frederick campus?

01:15:46
Not all students will be old enough for vaccine.

01:16:16
I don't have answers for that but from what I am reading, those ages may change for the vaccine as more studies come out

01:16:31
I will ask Barb to answer

01:16:36
thank you

01:16:40
these are experimental vaccines. Are they really going to be required? Or encouraged and/or offered?

01:17:11
Barb is addressing that now

01:17:17
I see that

01:17:19
thank you

01:17:27
Here at SJCP, no decisions regarding the vaccine have been made as of yet. We will be sure to keep the community updated.

01:18:47
Regarding the summer offerings, is there a list of classes we can look at?

01:18:58
oh nevermind I see it

01:18:59
in the link

01:19:26
Actually, I could not open that link. Can someone send me the document please?

01:19:54
Thank you Ms. Seaman

01:23:23
Also, what is "Pirates!"

01:23:25
?

01:23:48
Oh great! Frederick campus is convenient

01:23:57
Like Captain Cook?

01:23:57
Thank you to Mrs. Anders, Mrs. Seaman and all of our wonderful colleagues at Mount Saint Mary's University. The presentation was informative and the opportunities for our students are exceptional.

01:24:08
Hook.
