Diana Stadden
22:18
Problem: RHC placement is an entitlement, but community placements are not.
Diana Stadden
22:47
Solution: Make all DDA services an entitlement through caseload forecasting.

Problem: excessive response to minor situations by police. Answer: Train social workers to respond instead of police, so law enforcement isn't called to a group home because of an argument between to residents.

Thank you Diana

Marriage equality for couples for one or both who are on benefits. Currently to receive SSI couples need to have $3,000 or less between the couple. This can hinder couples who have one or more person on benefits get married.
Linda Hyatt

Late response to Adrienne: there are rare opportunities for service recipients and their families to give feedback about what’s working and whats not. Surveys relate mostly to process of assessment. Decisions should be evidence based.
ivanova Smith

Agreed Blake!
Hodan Mohamed WMSL

Lack of accessibility is discrimination: Physically, cognitively, and mentally inaccessible environments and experiences discriminate against people with disabilities.
Diana Stadden
40:50
Agreed Blake! HR 761 U.S. - in Congress (2021-2022)Marriage Access for People with Special Abilities Act or the MAPSA Act This bill excludes a spouse's income and resources when determining eligibility for Supplemental Security Income (SSI), and disregards marital status when calculating the SSI benefit amount, for an adult who has a diagnosed DD.

I would gladly give up my right to vote if it meant I could keep my right to live, work, have friends, speak for myself, and access the community as I wished.

Darci Ladwig
55:19
I have heard of organizations having voting parties. Presenting the issues and allowing individuals to make a choice.
Darya Farivar, DRW (she/they)
56:46
Voting rights are an important topic, especially right now, in disabled communities of color.
Kelley Nesbitt
57:14
My son has no connection to politics in his life. His interests at 28 do not include anything beyond his immediate needs in his immediate environment. He does not have the cognitive ability to make the decisions required to vote. To deny this is to deny him for who he is. For him, he is 100% vulnerable to someone abusing his vote. From anyone who is supporting him.
Hodan Mohamed WMSL
58:33
I agree with Darya!
Conrad Reynoldson
58:50
I came in late. Has anyone discussed free caregiver admission at places of public accommodation?
Diana Stadden
59:09
With our state doing all mail voting, it leaves those mail-in ballots open to misuse.
Diana Stadden
59:35
Conrad, that is on the list of issues.
Conrad Reynoldson

Ok, I will chime in when we get to it. Thanks!
