44:27
Thanks, Big:)

50:14
Just asking that question is already a big first step

50:18
That's great, Devon and Corinna.

55:23
OH GOOD thank you for also not knowing that Big

58:40
Foundations are feeling the pressure now too https://philanthropynewsdigest.org/news/macarthur-foundation-announces-plan-to-divest-from-fossil-fuels

59:13
Yes, the real change is at the top.

59:51
sorry, friends, my PC crashed again. so fun! But I'm back

01:00:09
There is another episode of How to Save a Planet "Is my Carbon Footprint BS" which does a good job of identify the conflict between individuals and bigger initiatives.

01:00:56
One of the things we'll need to grapple with is that the whole idea of a retirement is contingent on a growth paradigm, returns on investment, and capitalist growth (that's most likely harmful in some way). Is this actually realistic for our future or even desirable? What does a "retirement", having our needs met in another way?

01:01:26
Here's some of the internal research we did in terms of divestment--still in process and not social media friendly, but some good links: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1LyrZE1LKD1Ye1nzsndlaTnEBhrNGe8Jygws2Zd5XXsY/edit?usp=sharing

01:01:40
Vijay ^^^

01:01:50
@Sarah - OSF would do all of us a HUGE favor if they did this

01:02:33
@Vijay Hard agree. And how do we enjoy that retirement knowing how we got it

01:02:49
I can share what is being done in Canada regarding our environmental assessment framework for the cultural sector, whenever the time feels right. It's outside of US political and funding systems so I don't want to take too much time away from more community of practice sharing.

01:03:55
To piggyback on Ian's comment - this is fantastic. I would love to see the B Corp certification or something similar extend to the theater industry.

01:04:04
From my carbon calculation, i found that focusing on smaller things barely made impact too. In my case, it was better to focus on larger pieces like the HVAC and IT.

01:04:49
I know of at least one theatre in the South that has also installed solar, and they also did so through getting funding for that transition--can't quite remember the name but if you're here, please chime in:)

01:05:39
We have some solar on our production building. The state of Oregon has a commercial incentive program that we were able to take advantage of.

01:05:56
I'm so sad to leave, but I have a doc appointment. Looking forward to watching the rest of the recording. Have a great day all!

01:06:15
The OSF production building is really great

01:06:29
Thanks, Ian, dropped some related links in the padlet but feel free to drop more there https://padlet.com/tcgevents/CAMM

01:06:40
Reaching out to local solar companies is very useful as they often know about support.

01:08:59
Farm Arts Collective is dedicating the next 10 years of our annual summer performance DREAM ON THE FARM to themes of Climate Crisis.

01:09:39
@Corinna, not Theatrical Outfit in GA? They had the first LEED theatre, so maybe there is solar on their facilities?

01:10:39
That does ring a bell, thank you, Ian!

01:11:18
I’m just ready to share my story - so I can wait til after the 2 min reflection

01:16:30
Thank you, Lisa!

01:16:42
It's so difficult, isn't it? Because artists and teachers are already on the brink of never being able to "retire."

01:16:59
I loved hearing about your daughter's leadership, Lisa.

01:17:38
^^ Me too, Lisa, would love to hear more about what she's doing!

01:19:04
My feeling on making these small efforts is that if everyone did just one small effort we’d be in such a better place.

01:19:11
"if you are selfish, this is the best time to save yourself" =LOL Big

01:19:55
Thank you Big :)

01:20:02
Thanks Corinna and Devon - yes, she joined Sunrise Chicago last summer and then decided to found the Sunrise Chicago High School Shadow Hub. She is very focused on inciting optimism amongst high school students because the picture can be so overwhelming and bleak.

01:20:51

01:21:36
My climate story is basically one sentence: The realization that this existed was my turning point. https://theoceancleanup.com/great-pacific-garbage-patch/

01:21:38
BIG, like reactions to the pandemic, reactions to climate change have been politicized to the point that this conversation about what's better for all is so divisive that even self-sabotage is not even recognized.

01:21:58
urghhhhh

01:22:01
Tannis, your perspective as an artist and farmer is so meaningful to me, thank you.

01:23:17
WOW, love the clarity of that moment, Ian, and how it's propelled you forward

01:23:24
I am from Winnipeg Ian
