When there are very large numbers of students missing, the strategies are no longer about individual intervention but rather strategies that work across groups of students based on common challenges along with deepening strategies that deepen relationships with students and families, such as summer bridge programs, mentoring, advisory, restorative practices and other structural mechanisms for reaching many students collectively.
Amanda Pickett
48:46
Teaming is so important - ensuring you have representation from ALL stakeholders! This is a great tool to use - https://nirn.fpg.unc.edu/sites/nirn.fpg.unc.edu/files/imce/documents/Stakeholder%20Engagement%20Guide_10.12.18_0.pdf
Pam Gould
49:27
Good point. That is probably more effective intervention and then drill down to the targeted populations
Sheila Jackson Ed.D.
49:43
How about some representation from parents/families?
Kim Collie
49:50
Hello from the Arapahoe Library District in CO. Hoping there is a way libraries can help.
Paige Lewis
51:40
Libraries could definitely partner with schools for activities for kids over the summer to help them stay engaged throughout the summer and helping them to love to learn.. and could partner with schools to share their resources for families to support them. Libraries are such an important part of the community
Catherine
51:47
The summer months provide school leaders with the opportunity to take stock of the prior school year and plan for the coming school year. AW offers info and resources in out new Pathways toolkit: https://www.attendanceworks.org/resources/toolkits/pathways-to-engagement-a-toolkit-for-covid-19-recovery-through-attendance/step-3-craft-engagement-strategies/

Each school and district should use their own data to confirm which are the high priority student groups in need of additional outreach and support. Learn how to do this in AW’s Pathways toolkit: https://www.attendanceworks.org/resources/toolkits/pathways-to-engagement-a-toolkit-for-covid-19-recovery-through-attendance/step-2-identify-and-understand-priority-groups/
