welcome bonnie :)

23:49
My girl scout troop worked with a local church to converted a large container (type used for shipping) into a medical clinic. It is now ready to ship to Honduras. It is beautifully painted, electrified, real flooring put in, and walls insulated and dry wall put in. My girls helped furnish and collect supplies for the office room and paint. A retiring doctor donated medical equipment.

23:49
Welcome all new comers

24:52
We have a CASA chapter here in Bakersfield, CA

25:13
Everyone else who wanted to share, please share in the chat! We want to know what’s going on for you!

26:22
For me, I served as a federal election monitor (I work for the DOJ) last week. It was a long, hard day, but worth it.

26:26
I organized a three part discussion group about Waking Up White for people in my gown, and included one session with Debby Irving, the author.

26:47
Lots of door knocking. Worked at the polls.

27:50
I helped to organize a Mitzahpalooza day at the Religious school where I am the educational director. We had 10 stations for people to go to and perform mitzvoth which are connected to the midst we are encouraging people to do each month. One of the stations was to create Tzedek boxes!

28:01
Texting voters with info on where to vote. Now GA postcards. Locally, Thanksgiving food drives.

28:54
I went to Atlanta as part of the New Georgia Project’s Polling Chaplaincy program and was at a poll place from 7 to 7 on Election Day.

29:06
I have been part of a group advocating for a city ordinance to replace Columbus Day in ur city to Indigenous Peoples Day. we celebrated the passing of the ordinance on October 10th with a day of education and it was a great success.

29:44
Pennsylvania was a busy state. I manned tables at rallies, sent out postcards, hung door tags, and drove voters on Election Day.

32:14
Pennsylvania was a train wreck! They needed help. Philadelphia and Harrisburg were my assigned areas.

33:21
Writing letters to Georgia with Vote Forward

34:23
So grateful to all the people here who worked before, during and after election.

34:24
I’m a co- leader of a reproductive rights group at Central/ Neighborhood. We believed that Dobbs would affect the election and are pleased to see it did.I am personally heartened by all the talk about racial disparity. Rips it out of hiding and puts it in the light

35:33
I’m really heartened to hear you zoom out here, Rebecca - since I imagine that even the “win” that HIAS may have celebrated in the 2020 election did not mean that the work was done by any means.

36:14
I am the co-leader for the Washington, DC Metro group, and we're collaborating with a Church in Frederick, MD to help an Afghan Family that has recently arrived in this country. We're coordinating donations among our group members.

36:42
The people sharing on the chat are SO inspiring. I love reading everything you are doing!!

37:19
Thank you Andrew. You inspire me, and I am sure so many others.

38:03
Peace is the way - Thich That Hanh

38:42
All the small efforts add up to major efforts.

54:29
For those here: We put HIAS advocacy opportunities on the Tzedek Box app, if you use that tool

56:58
So is Hias pointing its work mainly to immigrants at the Border because I haven't heard of any groups in the Bronx pointed at immigrants this Border group

57:04
Sorry to be joining so late. Event at synagogue ran late. I look forward to the recording.

57:21
Sorry to be off camera but grateful to have you here Rebecca! What are some of the legislative priorities that the circles are working on?

57:58
In this lame duck session— is there any legislation we should push for?

59:24
Everyone is coming back in 60 seconds

01:00:47
Rebecca is finishing up her explanation of some of HIAS’s work. We’ll be sending a follow-up e-mail to everyone with actions you can take to support their efforts.

01:02:08
For Rebecca: Are there specific officials we should contact to help pass the Afghan Adjustment Act?

01:02:38
Fredi, we’ll send out an e-mail with a link to make it super easy.

01:02:40
Pirkei Avot - You are not required to finish your work, yet neither are you permitted to desist from it. This keep me doing the work and walking thru the ups and downs,.

01:03:13
I love this Alison

01:04:19
My 18 year old son received several handwritten notes. Thanks for sending to him. He voted.

01:04:35
I am in PA.

01:04:42
Im fro. Florida and m daughter is in Texas. We’re down too. And we celebrated our voting rights together

01:04:43
Fredi - it's worthwhile to contact any elected officials on this, but by far most strategic is to contact Senate Republicans. It's bipartisan, as you can see here: https://www.congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/senate-bill/4787/cosponsors

01:05:38
Yes, small acts add up and have a snowball effect. Fractals!

01:05:47
Center for Common Ground and Religious Action Center for postcards. Now the focus is all on Georgia!

01:05:52
the act of voting itself is an important action too! :)

01:06:48
^^^absolutely

01:06:49

01:08:02

01:08:19

01:10:25
