Well said Krystine ,retailers are causing the high cost of food not farmers ,socialization of agriculture will lead to inefficient sytems and producers. Govt needs to support farmers in their battle against retailers.

I see in other cities like Toronto, families are cooking and baking at home and bringing it to centers for distribution. Are we considering this kind of contributions?

How can we market better local food production and not just farm food. there are even local made products ie pasta. The public needs to take more responsibility especially for those who can afford the higher price of local food
Marat Dreyshner
02:19:45
because of liabilities to businesses catered food can’t leave an event after the several hours it sits out

grocery retailers are not penalized in any way for the huge food waste so until there is accountability, large grocery stores will continue to throw away usable food and other household items. Also not having consistent volunteer presence which food retailers try, often shut down these programs. without consistent volunteers picking up food that would be wasted, it creates rodent and other health issues at the facilities. There needs to be a better relationship between grocery retailers and food hubs that can help distribute the food.

Villagevancouver.ca - also helps connect residents to local gardens. JFS has a couple of local gardens that have offered their plots to us to grow and harvest - hopefully we can grow this program now that we have a place to store the harvest
