would it be possible not to post messages until the end as they obliterate what the teacher's trying to show us?
Serena Thomson
44:57
Do you have tips for blending the colours so they're solid without the paper grain coming through?
Lorella

Serena, I’ll ask Nikki your question when there is a moment. But try to hatch the opposite way. They sometimes helps get the colour into the grain.

can we see an example using one of the artists?
Jennifer.Walter
51:23
no, it doesn't - the sensitivity of the darker tones comment is really interesting
Susannah
51:23
Serena, I also have a ‘blender’ stick which is a wax and oil stick. helps to blend. But I think you can achieve similar results by layering the pencils alternatively.

can I just say, this openness - validity of just watching, how "not copying perfectly" allows you to take ownership. so brilliant. a real antidote to the modern age of "what am I doing this piece for?" it can be... .just for yourself!

Pointalism- dots of colour together. Your eye makes the overall colour.
Susannah
01:13:50
Absolutely Jennifer- I couldn’t agree more! We discuss exactly this in our Mindful Still life sessions on a Monday. If the drawing isn’t an interesting process for the artist… what is the point?!
