John W. Mosley (1907-1969), who took this photo, was a self-taught free-lance photojournalist and private society photographer, who specialized in photographing the African-American community and culture in Philadelphia. After Mosley died Charles L. Blockson collected Mosley's archive. The photos are now part of the Blockson Collection at Temple.
