What does the ESB-MACC mean to you? Why does the community need the ESB-MACC?
ESB MACC
01:35:24
Thank you Olivia, Yes , please feel free to either join in the discussion or write your answers to question 1 here….

1.What does the ESB-MACC mean to you? Why does the community need the ESB-MACC?2.What, if anything, do you find particularly central to your experiences at the ESB-MACC?3. Based on your vision of the future ESB-MACC, how can this building better serve the needs of the growing community?
Mari Kinzy
01:37:31
The MACC, to me, is a place of the community. I’ve only been to the building a few times, and each time I felt welcomed there and met new, interesting people. The MACC is the epitome of human connection and interaction.
Olivia Tamzarian
01:37:37
Thank you for sharing Steve!
Justin Schneider, PARD (he, him)
01:38:46
I'll share the screen again when we are ready for question 2. Just say something if you want to see it sooner!

01:46:47
Food is so important to our culture!
Selie Muniz (she/they)
01:47:17
Like Ethan said, we need a community café and community kitchen with A COMMUNITY FRIDGE
Ethan Estrada (he/they)
01:47:28
!!!
Brandon Muniz Villanueva
01:47:42
Yes a community fridge
Mari Kinzy
01:47:50

Aren Castro Gautier
01:47:53

nona
01:48:04

ESB MACC
01:48:37
All these ideas on the chat are great ! Keep them coming as we are keeping track :)
Brandon Muniz Villanueva
01:48:52
Adding on the theatre maybe some inspiration can be drawn from what was done at the Austin amphitheater
Aren Castro Gautier
01:49:35
^^
Mari Kinzy
01:49:48
Having a community kitchen/cafe would definitely foster a lot of creativity and connection
Selie Muniz (she/they)
01:50:19
and feed hungry people of Austin
Ethan Estrada (he/they)
01:50:56
^the café and kitchen as an engagement of our collectivity
Selie Muniz (she/they)
01:51:41
!!!!
Aren Castro Gautier
01:53:06
I saw a post about this restaurant once that allowed you to pay for meals in advance, so people who couldn't pay for their own meal can eat a meal that's paid for already. They'd put like, sticky notes on a wall that counted as free meal vouchers. Maybe we can do something like that to a. raise money to keep the kitchen running and b. feed people for free!
Aren Castro Gautier
01:55:13
because we would need money to buy ingredients to prepare food and maintain the facilities, so that way the kitchen could be at least partially self-sustaining
Aren Castro Gautier
01:55:33
although that's less of an architectural thing and more of a management thing
Selie Muniz (she/they)
01:55:50
I love that Aren!
Litzy Rea Valdez
01:56:44
That sounds amazing.
Selie Muniz (she/they)

Multipurpose spaces could work well.
Selie Muniz (she/they)
02:06:28
^^^^^
Ethan Estrada (he/they)
02:07:13
The Café could be an industrial kitchen, community library/fridge, and even classrooms!
Litzy Rea Valdez
02:09:22
I agree, the industrial kitchen could be paired with the cafe.
Ethan Estrada (he/they)
02:09:29

revamp the community garden at the MACC
ESB MACC
02:13:00
We currently do have a community garden, which will be moved elsewhere after the expansion, within our campus.
Aren Castro Gautier
02:13:14
When I was with Creative action we were by the sustainable food center and they had a really cool community garden. We could collaborate with them to make a community garden where we grow vegetables and stuff to use in the kitchen!
Nilmarie Gonzalez
02:13:30
sweet B)
Aren Castro Gautier
02:13:31

Ethan Estrada (he/they)
02:13:52
The pyramid would!
Selie Muniz (she/they)
02:13:57
it feels a lot like a blank canvas
ESB MACC
02:14:10
Also in the future, we do plan on continuing the garden, so you can always participate !
Aren Castro Gautier
02:14:18
Nice!
Nilmarie Gonzalez
02:14:53
colors can also help designate areas/serve as pathways since the build of the macc can be kind of confusing to newcomers
Ethan Estrada (he/they)
02:15:06
Definitely do want to keep the moon and sun dynamic, though!
Selie Muniz (she/they)
02:15:10
great point Nilmarie!
Selie Muniz (she/they)
02:15:34
and we can have the community kitchen section with red and yellow colors
Ethan Estrada (he/they)
02:15:42
^!!!
Elizabeth Diaz
02:17:01
Picnic tables could be inviting and establish a community feeling!
Ethan Estrada (he/they)
02:17:15

Lili Castillo
02:19:27
gabezo?
Lili Castillo
02:19:35
gazebo?
Selie Muniz (she/they)
02:19:44
so true
Litzy Rea Valdez
02:20:23
Having a smooth, outdoor surface could give way to a lot of these ideas for color and murals.
Nilmarie Gonzalez
02:20:35
life-drawing classes, yoga, music showcases where local musicians can do their thing with enough space and small crowds can gather, picnics, fund-raising scavenger hunts, even outdoor galleries would be really interesting experiences
Elizabeth Diaz
02:20:40
Shading could be provided with either trees for more involvement of nature or a built in structure with latin art
Ethan Estrada (he/they)
02:21:13
^!!!
Nilmarie Gonzalez
02:21:28
^ sculptures that naturally make shade would be cool additions too :)!

ESB MACC
02:25:56
A ‘cultural playground’ or play space would be amazing. Thank you for mentioning that !
Elizabeth Diaz
02:26:23
The playground could be objects that make music or sort of art structures that kids can climb or play in!
ESB MACC
02:27:31
I love that Elizabeth !
Diana Isabel Milk-Batista
02:30:20
I work in the summer camps and we spend many hours at the macc with the kids (the whole day)
Diana Isabel Milk-Batista
02:31:00
When I was there the different age groups would all go in at the same time and then separate and go to different rooms
Nilmarie Gonzalez
02:31:56
A question like that would probably be more fitted for the LAAP artists that are/were p much based at the MACC
Christine Sheng - RO Construction
02:32:03
