Zoom: Open Forum - Shared screen with speaker view
where is the raise your hand option?
It’s in the participants panel that flies out from the side of the app
Will Duke be making the Webinar feature available in Zoom now that the entire campus is using this platform?
signing in client vs browser
can I share files through ZOOM
polls- is that extra too?
What part of the invitation do you recommend sharing if someone asks for it (not as an Outlook appointment)? There's a lot of text. Do I need it all?
Hi Laura - you can provide just the link
As an example
or just the meeting number 594152566
Thanks Katie. What about the phone call in instructions? I get asked for that too.
If they click the link - the call in instructions will come up on the web page
how to assign an alternate host (do I have permissions? if not, how do I get that?)
But certainly you can add in the phone call in number
How do you set up a poll prior to the meeting?
John - from the scheduled meeting on the web, enable polls and it should give you the option to preload polls
Thank you Katie!!
Will you demo placing a background so your actual background is not visible?
how can I copy the link from Chat to paste it elsewhere (browser or notes I am taking)
so where is the raise hand option, i still didn't find it?
Should be on your participant panel - once you open, at the bottom
see where Debbie has the yes, no, etc buttons?
how do you load the files to the background
Yes- I like Shaun's wondered if blurred backdrop
I really need some advice about how to tag team speakers and have them control their own slides
how can you tell if a participant is on client or on the browser?
When I try to add an alternative host who is @duke.edu, I get a message that says "User could not be added as alternative host because they are not members of the same account".
How are you bringing up your client window
If you used email@example.com they probably don’t have a zoom account yet
i still can't get the particants panel
Can co-hosts access the reports for a meeting that they have co-hosted?
hmm I don’t actually think so - I think only available to the host - but good question though - we can double check that
Angela - did you join from the Zoom client?
i don't know the difference between them
Ok lets add that to the list to go over
In addition to speaker and host, are there other roles (like moderator) that you recommend? What are best practices for managing a large (>10 ppl) meeting with Chat and multiple speakers with a host
I can see that you have several people helping to moderator. How did you organize your roles?
the only zoom roles are host, co-host, and participant
We definitely recommend that the co-host(s) manage chat, and the participant panel! And the host focuses on managing the presenters.
Agree about moderator roles - how to decide who does what? Watch chat and raise hands, help with audio problms, help with slide issues etc?
That's helpful. Thank you @katie!
Can I set up separate chats? one for tech problems for example?
When Katie and Trina talk, they both go to the big screen - when Debbie talks, she’s still just in a thumb nail, how’s is that done OR why is that happening?
Hi Rebecca - there is just one chat stream
It sounds like Debbie recommends using Teams for chats instead of Zoom. So, why not just use the meeting function in Teams instead of using all of these different platforms for individual functions?
Pab7 - you can use the meeting function in teams. It works well for small meetings but not for larger ones because you don’t have as many controls to manage participants
Katie-maybe when everyone is done; we can stay here for a minute and you can show me; all i see right now is Debbie screen and it shows everyone name with icons next to their names but i don't see that on my end. Or we can talk off line after this
So large meetings, teaching, any “facilitated” sessions we would suggest Zoom.
Angela - sure - my *guess* is that you joined via the web browser therefore don’t have all the options.
Happy to confirm with you at the end
where do I find the report?
how about record of chats
se left nav
Hello Everyone, This is the problem sent to me from my director, please help... I consistently can’t join the Zoom huddle through my computer. . .I am having to call a toll number on my personal land line (cell service is not good where I live). Can you try to find a toll free number for NC?
Is it possible to join a meeting that requires registration if you have meeting ID but have not registered?
Sorry I came in late but, why are we not able to use our VPN with Zoom?
maybe you make the speakers all co hosts?
Now I see Debbie in main screen, I guess since she was sharing it’s the reason I was only able to see her in a small thumbnail
Everyone’s audio volume levels are each different. Some very loud. Any suggestions?
Is Debbie at her office OR is that her home office?
She has cubicles in her house?
Debbie is her Duke office
Lol - I thought so - thanks Trina

As IT Support, if we need help helping others, can we call on you OR go through OIT? - I have a user I’m meeting with tonight @ 5:10pm who’s voice comes in/out as she talks. It’s almost as if the volume level is going up/down automatically
Can someone join in with me tonight so they can hear it? She says that volume goes up/down whether she’s on earbuds or using computer sound
thank you so much this was very helpful
Thanks - great info today!
