Opposite. Heat pumps inherently A/C. To make an A/C a heat pump, it needs a reversing valve added

And A/C cannot be retrofitted into heat pump

@Shayna, for definitional accuracy: an A/C is a unidirectional heat pump like a refrigerator (so yes, it is a heat pump). However, in the industry when most people say "heat pump" they mean a bi-directional system that can do heating and cooling.

Just to add to Blake's current slide about "Quotes for the Same System Can Vary", the cost range is very similar in EBCE's region as well.

Btw, there are very immediate price/inflation pressures not reflected in the 2021 HPWH numbers.
