Can you speak to specific issues related to undocumented residents?
I have been on calls with DV shelter providers in South and North regions this week and have not heard of anyone trying to empty their shelter. Most are planning around better screening and capacity for quarantining new applicants or residents who fall ill.
Are orgs including disabled people as a group(s), as they are older people, etc, and not limiting disability discrimination to health issues?
How are shelters being staffed? Can the non-profit still have their employees on duty to supervise?
Yes shelter is an "essential service" under shelter in place orders and so folks can go to work to provide shelter
In addition to people in custody, I would add people under supervision, at particular risk for civil rights issues (parole/probation conditions), etc.
Thank you. Would that also apply to group homes for transition age foster youth?
Here is an example of what Liz is talking about from Court Appointed Special Advocates of Contra Costa County• CASA volunteers are staying in touch with their foster youth through telephone, video, and texting.• CASA volunteers have been given instruction about how to talk to foster youth about COVID-19 in a fact-based, developmentally appropriate, and anxiety-reducing way.• CASA staff are providing support to our CASA volunteers through telephone and video conferences, including Case Review Meetings, Team Meetings, and CASA Chats.• CASA staff are returning emails and phone calls. You may email any staff member as usual, or call them at 925-256-7284. If you are unsure about who to contact, please email email@example.com.• CASA is continuing to provide online CASA Volunteer Information Sessions for anyone who may be interested in becoming a CASA volunteer.• The CASA Therapy Program continues to operate via teletherapy. If you are a licensed mental health professional who would like to volunteer...

What might be legal services providers abilities to hire on new staff if funding/fellows were provided to assist with disaster/COVID issues. With the new "work from home" model we're all under will organizations will have the capacity to onboard new employees even with funding assistance?
@Linda Stanley - I think most of us would make it work, especially if the person has their own laptop and cell phone

Re remote work - pls remember disabled/older colleagues can help you adapt to building remote communities. We have experience!

We welcome your questions! Please type them here!
In these case studies, were clients accessing these programs at their home or were they going somewhere - like a public library - and accessing them there?
@Jenny - In the Guide that was shown, it's all of the above - from home, from a public library or other community "anchor" institution, and in some cases from a mobile device or tablet.
great, thank you
Three organizations that the Witkin Foundation supports today have started an "Emergency Fund" for their organization and are asking for donations.
PLEASE don’t forget disability-related access costs in your budgets. Funders: Require an access plan. More important than ever.
Can NCG share a list of affinity organizations such as ReWork the Bay, Asset Funders Network, GCIR, etc. so funders not in a network can know where they can go?
Please mute yourself if you are not talking. thank you

Having experience as a funder during the North Bay wildfires, Legal Aid being recognized as a "basic need" is imperative.
Texas built a platform to encourage social service providers to recognize legal issues - we’d love that here!
