My Veba account saved me last summer!!! I was bit on my right foot by a rattle snake... come to find out, anti-venom is $10,000 a dose, I received 16 doses...Veba was there to help cover the costs.

01:47:23
I had a VEBA account a long time ago. Will I still have 'that' account when I retire or till I get a new on. Also, how can I check to see if that old account is still active?

01:47:40
Wow, Hollie!

01:48:09
I was so grateful!

01:48:16
'will' not till. . . . . . .

01:48:40
I bet, Hollie!

01:58:38
What if your group does not elect to cover that year.

02:00:25
Will you be doing Pers 1 plan?

02:00:39
or dual plans?

02:03:15
How does part time work fit in... 17 years of 1.0 FTE then 7 years .6 FTE

02:04:23
Is the 180 days cashout (45 days) in addition to the money that you have already put into your VEBA account?

02:05:56
I have 21 years in Oregon and will finish 9 Years in Washington this year to equal 30 years. Can I retire at 62 with those combined 30 years?

02:08:13
Since our defined benefit is based on the performance of stocks, what happens if the stock market goes down? Does our benefit automatically go down?

02:14:54
is income tax taken out before payment, or do I have to do quarterlies or?

02:18:17
What if your 70

02:19:03

02:19:08

02:19:30
When we use the benefits calculator on the drs web site does it account for the early retirement penalty?

02:19:42
How do we know which PLAN we are on?

02:20:59
If we work part-time after retiring (subbing) and getting payments at 69, do we need to notify DRS? Do we lose benefits?

02:37:35
can you get an annuity before retiring

02:48:30

02:58:17
Will you please tell us what PEBB is? Is it a medicare supplement? Full Ins? What/

02:59:40
Yes, please…I do not know what PEBB is either.

02:59:59
me too

03:00:38
PEBB is our insurance benefits when we retire

03:00:53

03:01:15
W

03:01:15
h

03:01:15
y

03:01:32
yes you pay premiums

03:01:34
sorry, why would we choose it over other options?

03:01:47
Yes, is it better than medicare/medicaid?

03:01:59
or medicare supplements?

03:02:34
This is what you get if you're aren't eligible for Medicare yet due to your age

03:03:31
so 70 year olds wouldn't choose this for any reason?

03:03:32
thank you!

03:04:03
So it would fill the gap between retirement and medicare?

03:04:46
It’s a shame that health care premiums will prevent some from retiring.

03:07:33
I think it’s a huge consideration for a lot of us. I would certainly consider retiring early were it not for sky high insurance premiums. :(

03:08:57
I would love it if there was a person I could consult directly about my own questions. Aren’t there people who we can meet with individually?

03:09:46
That's why some employers have VEBA as an option or you use your DCP or Plan 3 Self directed plans monies to help cover those costs. It really depends how long you have to get from your actual retirement age to when you can be covered under Medicare. Then you have your Supplemental plans.

03:11:16
Is DCP deferred comp?

03:12:15
Yes. Deferred compensation Plan. Pre-tax dollars from your paycheck. It is in addition to your Defined Benefit and can be taken out immediately once you retire (even if you defer your pension).

03:13:02
When you pull money out of deferred comp, it’s taxed, correct?

03:14:10
The PEBB Retirement plan costs are actually less than what you AND your employer are paying for your healthcare premiums.

03:14:17
What is the impact with Tricare?

03:16:44
This is mind boggling and we have two household employees - one to retire now the other works for 10 more years. I need to speak with someone about our specific situation - this is so confusing. Who do we contact?

03:17:42
I wonder about how it impacts TriCare, too.

03:19:20
This is a difficult format - being online. I attended the in person event last year and found it easier to understand. It’s been suggested to attend multiple years prior to retiring. :)

03:19:56
Lee, yes. Unfortunately, I have a hard time for this all to "stick," regardless :(

03:24:10
Must I have Medicare Part B to discuss enrollment?

03:25:18
so I have to enroll and pay Medicare B premiums and then pay more for PEBB premiums on top of that?

03:25:38
yep

03:27:14
SHIBA! Yes!!!

03:27:36
