great work!

38:06
thanks Lola. You are amazing!

38:07
Wonderful presentation and something that is definitely necessary. Thank you for sharing, Lola!

38:51
parents are grateful for the food and wellness team! Bravo!

39:10
Thank you for all you do Ms Lola! You have really done an amazing job creating love in the kids for healthy food :) My kids are missing the school food for sure!

39:32
And Math!

43:14
Thank you! It is my pleasure!

43:19
Thank you Lola, we are so so lucky to have you lead our food and wellness department. You and your team are doing such impressive work!!!

48:01
FYI our rate of families who fill out their application lowered significantly with immigration scares

55:43
Will students move to next grade if the remain below grade level?

56:22
Yes, we do not anticipate retaining students this year based on academic achievement, because of the crisis

56:33
Are we able to offer remedial programs (spring break, summer )

58:10
In our biweekly calls with the Deputy Mayor of Education, summer remediation programs have just come up on the agenda. The city is beginning to plan several options; we will have to plan as well

58:15
Of course, they would need to be funded

01:00:37
can you please keep us abreast of this. would love to see DCB take leadership in this area

01:02:08
Yes. The Mayor just announced a grant opportunity for supporting in person learning. I really hope there are similar opportunities to support summer learning.

01:04:14
Does the Black/African American group of kids continue at DCI? if so,,how do they fare?

01:04:15
as you work through possible solutions for decreasing this percentages, are you engaging the other DCI feeder schools?

01:05:05
I am referring to the kids in that group who are way below

01:06:48
The majority of our students (all but 4-5) go to DCI each year

01:07:11
and do they get the same support?

01:07:58
I agree w/ Naomi. And if I could borrow from a previous comment that Naomi made a few weeks ago, let's keep asking, "how do the decisions we are making going to help our most vulnerable students in this area?" Thank you for the work you are doing in both intervention and equity.

01:07:58
I’m also thinking about resources such as personnel, extra school hours, tutors, etc.

01:08:15
ok, good info. thanks

01:08:28
That is always the #1 question Brandon!

01:09:41
@Naomi yes, this is always needed and welcome. As long as we are still virtual though, there are significant limitations on the amount of time children can receive “extra” virtual learning support. These conversations will have to continue through the summer and throughout next school year as we transition back to in person learning.

01:10:11
Wonderful job to the academic leaders @ DCB. Really extraordinary.

01:10:33
Ole team!!!

01:18:21
we also revisit this every aca. ex. meeting

01:18:33
with check-ins every time

01:18:35
I wonder if it makes sense to add the equity goal on discipline now and talk about the PD you are doing with your staff (infinity groups, etc.) to prepare for return to school.

01:19:07
i was going to say the exact same thing

01:19:08
Great point Naomi...

01:19:09
I think that's a good idea, Naomi. That would make sense.

01:19:26
Yes! We have that goal and we can report out on what steps we are taking

01:19:55
Yes, Naomi.

01:19:57
Excellent, Rohini!

01:19:59
how where the dec 16 and 18 affinity group sessions? any notes available?

01:20:21
Yes, Alex and I are also working on a document to show all in one place the equity goals and the initiatives we are trying this year to advance these goals. Our hope is to make this easy to understand, super transparent and available on our school's website

01:21:53
@Richard-- we have (internal) every other week or so affinity group meetings, and we have notes for all. At the same time we have a newly formed Equity Committee (that was created with nominations and careful selection process). The equity committee has started to meet but it isn't yet smooth sailing.

01:22:38
sorry my internet is sketchy but I can hear everyone!

01:23:15
Thanks, all!

01:23:19
Thank you!

01:25:04
Thank you Eleni and Rohini!!!!

01:32:22
That's wonderful news, John!

01:33:26
@Richard-- I think you bring up a great idea, which is reporting out how the affinity groups are going. I will provide that update and maybe even we can have as a guest an affinity group leader to discuss this work. Great idea!!!

01:37:01
That's great to know for future fundraising efforts, .e.g., virtual campaigns > physical flyers. Also, having the language provided to post to our social media outlets was helpful, too.

01:48:31
Thank you Alex!!

01:48:45
congrats again

01:49:03
thanks Alex - congrats on the wins!

01:51:08
Yes, thanks for the excellent presentations.

01:56:40
These three big wins need to be celebrated in person as soon as we can!!
