This has not come up for us, but what if a vendor has a disability prohibiting them from wearing a mask? The AAFM requires vendors to wear face covering.
Ariel Mondlak, Waterbury Farmers Market
38:02
Is there a template for the log or should we make our own?
Andrew Graham, VTFMA/NOFA-VT
38:56
If you haven't yet done so, please put your name, farmers market affiliation, and where you're 'Zoom'ing in from into the chat.

Some vendors secure a plastic pane to the table
Cindy - Champlain Islands FM
53:21
We had one vendor who later in the season used a face shield rather than a mask. It was fine, kind of, but it is all too easy for those shields kind of tip back (which I observed), so it made me a bit uncomfortable. I hope that we will be in a position to be much less skittish during the 2021 season!
Dar W - FMC (she/her)
53:34
Make sure you log every incident and its details.
Ariel Mondlak, Waterbury Farmers Market

Thank you!

We had a adamant anti masker customer who basically challenge anyone to stop here.
Daniel Strohl, Bennington FM
55:28
Same, Laura - we had an anti-masker who claimed every exemption under the sun to wearing a mask. Raised a fuss. We ended up involving the cops.
Cindy - Champlain Islands FM
55:31
We are skittish in VT, after scary episodes last year at a couple of markets. For this reason, last year, we let the very few people who refused to wear a mask in.

are we at the point in VT where folks who claim to have been vaccinated and don’t carry any ‘proof’ can still wander around maskless? Is asking for the ‘proof’ like the card they give you if you’ve had both shots the same no-no as asking what their disability is?
Cindy - Champlain Islands FM
59:12
The mask mandate in VT has not been modified.
Cindy - Champlain Islands FM
59:19
At least not that I know of!
Cindy - Champlain Islands FM
01:00:48
I am guessing that we (or anyone) do not have a right to question people about their vaccination status, nor ask to see their card. I am sure that this will become an issue in the future, so we are going to need some guidance.
Stacy Hart
01:02:55
I feel for all of you. When people don't like my answer, they hang up or stop emailing.

can’t kick someone out for bad fashion or poor taste - arbitrary or personal opinion - I jest
Sherry Maher
01:07:47
but messages on shirts can go beyond poor taste as we saw on Jan. 6th. Where do clear hate messages fit in here?
Dar W - FMC (she/her)
01:10:23
So it sounds like the FMLT PDF decision tree on free speech might have been useful for that situation?
Daniel Strohl, Bennington FM
01:10:57
Circling back around to masks for a moment. Am I correct that there is no religious exemption for wearing a mask?
Dar W - FMC (she/her)
01:13:47
I’d definitely share and or print the Free Speech handout to have at market and to share with vendors and boards.
Andrew Graham, VTFMA/NOFA-VT
01:13:55
I believe that's correct, Daniel.
Daniel Strohl, Bennington FM

Thanks, Andrew.

Is there a religious exemption for liability insurance?
Cindy - Champlain Islands FM
01:19:12
Think Amish/Mennonite
Cindy - Champlain Islands FM
01:20:02
This has come up on on the FMC listserv.
Ariel Mondlak, Waterbury Farmers Market
01:20:20
Another question re: liability! Our market rules are currently "The market encourages each vendor to carry liability insurance. The Waterbury FarmersMarket is not liable in any way for any risks, dangers, injuries, or damages caused by orrelated to vendors’ products or equipment." Should we modify this to "The market requires..."?
Cindy - Champlain Islands FM
01:21:25
Ariel, we handle it the same way. So far, we do not require that vendors carry liability insurance. It does make me nervous.
Susan Dunning, she/her
01:21:58
what if the market has a rule requiring liability insurance. Brattleboro requires
Ariel Mondlak, Waterbury Farmers Market
01:22:31
I suppose my question is, if we keep it as-is, are we protected from liabilities?
Dar W - FMC (she/her)
01:24:25
Absolutely.
Cindy - Champlain Islands FM
01:24:39
That is why we have board and directors insurance. It is expensive.
