Yes I had considered organ donation before as my mum had kidney failure and was on dialysis for quite a few years before she passed away in 2016. I would definitely sign up to the register.

We really need to speak about organ donation constantly to the community through the Gurdwaras every week and the need to speak about donation to our families so that there is not any unnecessary distress to those left behind.

Dialysis is not easy mum used to feel cold, get cramps and couldn’t drink water only a very limited amount. It was very hard to watch to see your mum suffer. Because of her other health problems she couldn’t have a kidney donation. Her line also used to get blocked I understand what Satnam Singh and his family has been through.

It is something that people still try and keep to themselves. We need to keep the messages going out on a regular basis. Veer Ji and Bhen Ji are explaining it so well in Punjabi it would be so good to have this as a video message to show to groups.

Yes I considered being a Donor many years ago and am registered on the Organ Donor now, for me it wasn't a difficult decision to make really. I've personal effected by Kidney Disease and also seen first hand what it means to receive a gift of a organ donation to both the person receiving it and also the family.

Jagdish Singh ji organ donation is an individual choice, Sewa is paramount for any Sikh. When the Akaal Takhat Jathedar was visiting the Gurdwara in Southall last year he said that there is no restriction in donating organs for Sikhs.

Thank you everyone, there are so many steps involved in encouraging our community to donate and it's not always an easy ask from my own experience on the Hope4Anaya campaign where we sought a living kidney donor. It was encouraging to hear so many who said - 'Thank you for doing this, I've been meaning to register'. We need make sure we keep creating those opportunities and raising our voices. Thank you Neerja for a great event and the encouragement.
