It is said to help dyslexia too when the colors are different
Nicole Hayden
42:00
Nearpod is great because you can just import your slides from any program (google slides or powerpoint) and you can allow student to draw on them!
Brenda McCarthy
42:40
Yes, colors do help dyslexia students. I have one now who uses highlighters on ALL of her assignments/tests to help "see" the words better. The students fluency has also improved by doing this.
Bryan Whitley-Grassi
42:42
I love Rewordify for social studies primary documents.
Nicole Hayden
43:07
Freckle is adaptive to each students level! We have a school-wide subscription

I’ve had trouble with Natural Readers reading PDFs.
Nicole Hayden
43:53
I also use Screencastify to record the read aloud from our ELA program to share with the students since they don't have access!
Nicole Hayden
46:08
I also google image search "topic" anchor chart :D
Ian Mahony
46:48
The Google Drive app can also scan and then convert text to an editable Doc.
Nicole Hayden
48:36
We were asked not to use any new websites that ask for student personal information during this time due to privacy laws in NY

I have been emailing and sharing communication logs with them
Grace Dong Janeo
51:31
This can help the ENL students
Brenda McCarthy
51:35
It's frustrating when you can't work with them directly.
Nicole Hayden
51:41
In some cases they have gotten more information from families than I was able to
Nicole Hayden
51:49
PT sent packets home for my district
sarah hickey
51:50
I am a speech therapist and I am a co-teacher in classrooms. My department also creates Google forms and emails with parents weekly/daily
Michelle Coffey
51:50
At my school, the RSPs have been reaching out to families and trying to set up teletherapy.
Susan Trieste
51:54
I would like to practice some of these things first before the kids can see them. Any suggestions on how to do online things that only I can see?
Christina Bauer
52:13
Very helpful! Thank you for all the ideas. I'll be sharing what I learned with my co-sped teacher
Christine Kelton
52:23
I also think many parents are feeling overwhelmed with a deluge of messages from teachers, especially when their children have gen ed, special ed, ot/pt, ENL teachers.
Kristina Costello
52:32
My 4 year old had his first virtual speech therapy session yesterday through NYS Early Intervention…it went great!!!

sarah hickey
54:39
Yes early intervention at this point is under different guidelines than school based SLPS. They recently passed laws for EI in NY state
Geri Koch
54:42
Thanks
Deborah Schulz
54:45
I have one parent who is juggling 6 separate google classrooms for her children- she is overwhelmed!
Kristen Zgoda
54:46
I am working on Admin getting on board with giving each subject area a day (high school). Example: ELA work gets done on Mondays and contact with those students, Math on Tuesdays, etc.
Kristen Zgoda
55:07
Our kids need organization with all these assignments and subject areas.
Christine Kelton
55:11
LOL. Meaning that it’s tough to organize and send out messages that are condensed and contain info from more than one teacher.
Kristen Zgoda
55:56
I would love a rest/recover day!!!
Christine Kelton
56:48
PS. Whatever you eat, it doesn’t count during a pandemic.
