Beth,

20:16
I feel that Delavan is ahead of other schools-we are online and already rolling. My sons are in two other districts and are not doing anything online for another week or so!
VALERIE SCHMITZ
20:57
Delavan's plan was very thorough and you have a wonderful team!
Jon Tanner
21:15
Oregon’s plan is about the same as Janesville’s
Ron Dayton
22:35
‘I will mention that at the Dane County Public Health meeting this morning, the question came from Waunakee about distributing devices and materials. Public Health recommended a method of rotating arrivals of students to avoid over numbers when arriving to pick up information.

One guidance from DPI was so send two meals together for those who are able to send meals home or allow for drive by distribution of food.
Ron Dayton
27:20
Shifts were emphasized at the Dane county meeting. Also, providers of distribution need to be conscious of their health when helping. The message was STAY HOME if not feeling well. Districts should then plan for backups for those coming in to help.

I wonder if the best option isn't to include resources that are adaptive within the resources for universal instruction, and then have the Sp. Ed teachers send specific supports to individual students connected to those resources.

Another item came up this morning with Dane County Public Health and DPI. DPI commented that as nurses were expected to support special education students issues of service provisions would be addressed and forth coming. It was also noted that it should be considered best practice if nurses be included in IEP Meetings after this time period which will want to be completed as a follow-up when school begins again.

Q1: Clarity on which tools to use, since many are overwhelmed.
VALERIE SCHMITZ
53:04
Q1: How/what are school admins expecting from educators in terms of time online, office hours, etc...
Beth Clarke
53:06
Equity of access at home
Janet Beilman
53:20
We are still never going to have all students having wifi at home, so how do we meet those needs?
Jon Tanner
53:21
Q1: Clear guidelines on special ed instruction to meet FAPE requirements.
Karen Russell
53:32
As has already been mentioned lots of special education questions
Jon Schaefer
53:43
Q1: Supports of performance based content and skills assessment.
Hank Schmelz
53:53
Amount of time a middle school student really should be on-line during this?
Jon Schaefer
54:21
Q2: What are administrator's expectations for performance and participation?
Emily Lynd
54:59
I think the biggest question here has been how to ensure equitable access for all students (beyond internet/device access)...who has parent support to help facilitate, what does EC look like, what about students who are significantly involved, etc...those are the biggest questions we have at this point.
Hank Schmelz
55:10
Is there a clearing house of sorts that rates the plethora of free online options spring up? There are many that are new to me, but not sure if I should share as I am unfamiliar with them.
Jamie Syvrud
55:21
I think that it is really important to distinguish between expected screen time and learning time each day. Screen time should be limited, but we should be expecting students to spend time off screen learning.
Kristin Wilkinson
55:23
Q3: Should we be grading or giving feedback? Should there be assessments (secondary)? Lots of teachers are questioning this in my district.
Tracy Elger
56:01
DPI's special education team had created a website on COVID 19 with a dropdown menu for special education questions: https://dpi.wi.gov/sspw/2019-novel-coronavirus
Ron Dayton
56:26
Just a quick note again from this morning’s Dane County Meeting. Testing timelines will definitely be pushed back. Districts should not panic. Guidance from DPI is being worked on and will be forthcoming.
VALERIE SCHMITZ
58:02
How are schools handling attendance?
Jon Tanner
58:04
The problem is that Neenah (which is shown as an exemplary distance learning district on DPI’s site) shows about half the time that DPI says.
Jon Tanner
59:02
In Friday’s CESA2 webinar, DPI said that they may count attendance based on students meeting learning targets. They said to focus more on that than on minutes of instruction.
Jon Schaefer
01:01:31
Group work online is very difficult and needs a lot of guidance and considerations.

If anyone has questions specific to specialized services and staffing, please feel free to contact me at Stephanie.woloshin@cesa2.org or call me at 608-290-3187. I plan on attending the legal session tomorrow morning. I’m sure we will have more answers then. If after that you have specific concerns re: any CESA 2 staff from Specialized Services & Staffing, again, please contact me using the information listed previously. I highly recommend reviewing the Buelow-Vetter document that Tracy just shared.
Jon Tanner
01:08:41
We are already using Google Tools and are trying to leverage them to the max before adopting anything in addition. But we also tell teachers to keep using what their students are familiar with.
Marc Heuer
01:09:16
How are districts maintaining and even extending mentoring/ coaching support for our newest colleagues?
Janet Beilman
01:10:08
I think it's important to remember that we need to try to have common language and tools with our peers-especially at the middle and high school levels where students have multiple teachers.
Kassie McOmber
01:12:15
We have several ways we will be tracking attendance in Williams Bay. Our teachers are required to do at least one personal per week with each student. At the elementary school, we are asking students to fill out an attendance form online on a daily basis. For special educators are required to make daily, personal contact with each of their students. We have staff in charge of checking and making sure we are hearing from each student and if not, our student services team needs to be contacted.
Kassie McOmber
01:17:31
I'm actually looking up resources for our staff. I feel like they are in need of support for themselves, too!
Kristin Wilkinson
01:19:24
I don't think this resource was listed. My colleague shared this with me for peer feedback: https://www.peergrade.io/
Mary Jo Ziegler
01:20:40
I agree Kassie! We are asking a great deal of our educators and they are worried about their students. They also have families and children of their own to support. How are we providing additional support and care??
Kelly Pickel
01:22:02
I can share what we are doing at the elementary level in DDSD if you wish
Hank Schmelz
01:24:03
For Phoenix middle school attendance, Each kid has 7 teachers. Our educators are initialing a google spread sheet each day. If no contact is made in 2 days then homeroom staff reach out to families. The next level is student services connecting as best they can.
Mary Jo Ziegler
01:25:07
Kelly, Love the idea of having a system for tracking contacts with students and families! How are we ensuring every student/family gets a connect! Good thinking D-D!

It will be critical that we are supporting staff with ways to take care of themselves and their own physical, social and emotional health.

Agreed Kelly!

01:29:12
I am still seeking a good place to see what resources that are being offered for free really are best. So much is free now.
VALERIE SCHMITZ
01:29:51
Thanks Hank! We can certainly work on a repository of best practice online tools.
