Sustainable design has come a long way in the past decade. Many transportation projects include a mix of project types from buildings to stormwater systems to parks and parking garages. Larger infrastructure owners have embraced sustainability by adding requirements directly in their requests for proposals. This webinar will highlight one of WSP’s current projects that encompasses a new roadway system with several bridges, along with an office development and a parking garage. Their client has stipulated that the buildings shall meet LEED and Parksmart Silver. The construction manager/developer’s team will be overseeing the construction of multiple types with sustainable rating systems that may have similar credits with different documentation requirements. WSP recommended Envision as a framework with a wide scope that encompasses all elements of the project site. It serves as the guiding sustainability plan over the other rating systems. The rating systems for single elements of the larger project operate under the Envision umbrella. The presenter will share natural synergies that arise and will also note the pitfalls to avoid. Throughout the project process, an integrated team focused on sustainability will ultimately achieve success.
