Coffee Chat: Fiscal Sponsorship
Most people want to pursue their passion to make the world a better place, not create a nonprofit and spend an inordinate amount of time and resources checking off the requirements one needs to be a registered IRS tax-exempt organization.

For emerging projects, fiscal sponsorship can be an alternative model to an independent 501(c)3.

The fiscal sponsorship field and practice has advanced greatly in the past decade and represents trillions of charitable funds saved on overhead that has gone back into mission-related work.

Join Tamira Jones of the Earth Island Institute, a Steering Member of the National Network of Fiscal Sponsors, to learn more about fiscal sponsorship and the questions to ask as you consider this alternative legal model.

Tamira has been working in the environmental sector for 20 years, both in the US and abroad. She now manages the fiscal sponsorship program at Earth Island, a 30 year old organization that has over 80 projects and 200 employees. Tamira draws on her experience working for nonprofits of all sizes and missions in order to better support projects under fiscal sponsorship, and those who are fiscal curious, as well as provide coaching for emerging grassroots leaders.
