Grow Ontario Organic: A Check-Off with Choice Webinar #2
Let's work together to #GrowOntarioOrganic.

In 2016-2017, the Organic Council of Ontario consulted over 600 experts and stakeholders on the future of organic in Ontario. We wanted to know how to help the sector grow to meet Ontario’s growing demand. Through this research, we determined that stable funding is required to achieve the priorities of Ontario's organic sector. To fulfill the need for funding, a voluntary "check-off" is proposed for organic products. Usual marketing boards and commodity associations provide their members with invaluable support including training and advocacy. However, organic producers all experience common risks and challenges that require more dedicated attention. A voluntary “check-off” on organic products would allow producers to divert a designated portion of their usual commodity/container fees towards an organic association instead.

We want a funding mechanism that is fair, representative and provides choice. With your endorsement, we can bring this proposal to the Farm Products Marketing Commission and establish a check-off with choice. Join our webinar to learn more about to research and proposal. Share your feedback to ensure we've got a plan that will support sector development. Then, endorse the plan to help #GrowOntarioOrganic
