STEM-focused high school girls face conflict in their lives, from peer pressure to derision and belittling from males. When most of us are in the center of a conflict, our fight or flight instincts kick in and we either prepare to stand our ground and fight or we run away from the conflict. Instead, we need to learn to transform a conflict by increasing mutual understanding, getting to the root of the disagreement, shifting the focus to the present and future, and listening and investing in the relationship.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
Describe the 4 types of conflict,
Identify your current conflict resolution style and
Explain the four steps to transform a conflict.
