The schools re-opened on January 11, 2021. The Royal Government of Cambodia’s measures to contain the spread of the global pandemic led to a drop in rates of infections and making it feasible to allow learners to return to resume their studies following the official safety regulations. However, both the RGC and civil society remain concerned over the inevitable consequences of prolonged school closures and assessment of outcomes of distance ( online, tv, radio) education, where it was available.
Another crucial indicator to monitor and measure has to be the rate of student drop-out, education sector actors must come together t accurately assess the situation and developed mechanisms to support marginalized learners as they might fail to return to school due to economic hardship and other pull/push factors.
The Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sport (MoEYS) have introduced the accelerated curriculum for the remainder of this academic year from January to April 2021. What could be The RGC and CSOs' joint efforts to implement it?
We are inviting our distinguished speakers:
- to discuss the current strategy to re-open schools and promote the safety of the communities;
- to explore good practices for mitigation of negative impacts of the long-term school closures, assess learners’ needs, and ensure the return of marginalized learners to school;
- to share strategies to kick start behavior changes in the society with support from the educational actors, parents, and students.
