During the COVID-19 pandemic, we have seen record deaths and unprecedented loss among aging populations in the United States. As we look at the traumas facing aging individuals today, we can identify specific considerations that may help creative arts therapists understand how to best approach our work. This workshop will help participants gain insights into challenges that many older individuals face such as grief, loss, body decline, ageism, and life in institutions. Facilitated discussion and creative exploration will guide participants toward developing engaging, dynamic, and depth-oriented experientials. The workshop will emphasize ways for creative art therapists to help support the full humanity and personhood of older individuals.
