Apps for Increasing Interaction in the Online Math Classroom
As many of us return to online, remote teaching for the Fall semester, we will be looking for ways to make our synchronous lectures more interactive. In this session, we will discuss commonly available tools which can turn one-way online lectures into two-sided participation without interrupting the flow of the presentation of material. The end result will be class sessions where the students are more engaged with the material. The following apps will be covered:
Google Forms and Sheets: use generic form to record answers
Padlet : online collaborative bulletin board
Desmos: mobile graphing app
Remind Messaging App: text message students for free; not required to collect phone number
