The effects of the pandemic have ranged from anxiety-producing to devastating for students, teachers, and caregivers. Research tells us that anxiety levels of teachers impact student learning, and that students cannot learn when they are in flight or flight. As leaders, we need to consider what social and emotional supports for these community members will mitigate against the loss of learning that occurs when a community is under duress.
